So there are some artists who collab together in most of their art and they make some pretty good artwork together. I know they usually work together, and it's likely many of you know who I'm talking about if you've seen their artwork. They're not on Inkbunny and I'm not gonna name them, cause I'm not that petty, but I've commissioned them a long while ago, almost 20 months ago for two YCHs and another two YCHs almost 12 months ago from the other. I know they're not trying to rip me off in particular because I have commissioned them before and they've made some lovely work of my sona Cassandra Valva (Cassie) before and I've contacted one of them three times for them for them to tell me that they're sorry and they're working threw other commissions, but they have inadvertently done so. It makes it worse that the work I've commissioned before was with multiple other people commisioning their fursonas into a single collab, and the ones with just my characters, or ones I fully paid for at a cheaper cost, with just one artist, are the ones getting ignored.
I understand why this is happening completely. They're doing work for a lot of people and I started watching them while they were blowing up and they had cheaper prices while they were struggling, but now that everything is at least triple digits now, they're paying more attention to the commissioners who are paying more. I think there should be a higher level of attention when it comes to paying more, but if that means I have to wait in line indefinitely till there's nobody left (if they'll even give me that attention), that is not fair. We still made a contract (figuratively, but I guess messages in DMs and bank notes count as a physical contract.), and we agreed to it. It's not fair for me to fulfill my end of the bargain and be abandoned completely, for any reason. I just want my artwork. I don't want people fighting for me on my behalf but I would like to know if anyone has worked with them. This really is a "if you know, you know." post.
This scenario is the biggest reason why I haven't started opening commissions to people. I don't think I can service people in the appropriate amount of time (I work full time and go to art school part time) or knowing what the appropriate charge of my work should be. I'm very moralistic of other people time, since they have the generosity to give it to me. If I order food, it's my job to go pick it up and pay for it. It's their job to make it. If it's not done, fine... that's 20 dollars well spent to make sure I never order from you again (take a wild guess which movie that one is from. :) ). If you can't give me my artwork... then I won't commission you again. Plain and simple. Struggling artist have finished art quicker or at the very least gave me reasons they haven't or can't finish it. (Change of art style, life complications, etc) and I've let it go cause they have enough burdens, why should I be one too, but this is not it. They seem alright as it is and I just want my artwork, especially since I needed it for RP scenarios. Even if they eventually finish my work, I don't think I want to work with them again. This neglect, even if it's on accident, has soured me. I'm not exactly dirt poor, or struggling a lot, but I don't exactly have "fursuit" money, so that should say a lot. I just want what is mine.
