Remember when...

... computers had a power port on the back to plug the monitor into? It was a passthrough from the computer's power cord, and the monitor would turn on and off with the desktop.

I kinda miss that.

Nowadays, most monitors will turn on and off automatically through CEC or something similar, but not always.

the practicality of it didn't last that long, what with more and more monitors now needed specialized power cords, here's looking at you barrel jack monitors >.>; but yeah, it was a nice feature while it lasted, stinks it didn't stay around that long.

It went away while CRTs were still the main monitor.

I think it was the ATX standard and the 'soft power switch' that did them in.

Lasted through the '80s and well into the '90s, though!
