Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on

— Projects & Plans —
I've been working on making new Pushing my Buttons pages, and it feels great! I wrote enough of the story that I felt like it was time to finally make new pages. I decided to emulate my old style instead of my current style, so they're going to look like the first 3 pages I made back in 2021. The next new page goes up tomorrow, and I plan to make a habit of posting new pages on Wednesdays. I originally planned to write the entire story before making new pages, but I wanted to make some new pages based on the story I've written so far to hype myself up for the rest of the project.
I opened commissions for a week and received over 40 requests! I've decided to make at least half of these, because I like a challenge, and because it fills up my calendar with paid work for at least the next 2 months. Other than getting so many requests, another thing I didn't expect was how long it takes to manage conversations with so many clients at once. I have to review their request, decide if I'm making it or not, figure out a good price, contact the commissioner, flesh out minor details, see if they agree with the price, get their email, send an invoice, wait for them to pay, confirm payment, schedule when to make their commission, and let them know the date... and that's just for one client! Imagine juggling that for over 20 people at once, or even 30! I'm still not done reaching out to all the commissioners. It's a lot of work, but I'm ready to meet this challenge head-on. :3
After these commissions are done, I might check in with Pathwarden on making more Down in the Dungeon pages, maybe open another YCH auction, do a new animation, make more ref sheets for my characters, and maybe make some personal comics.
— Ideas —
I finally made new ref sheets with bios for my main 4 characters. I started ref sheets for Snowball, Lady, and Bo, but those aren't high priorities for me just yet.
I think the reason I received so many commission requests was because I offered a lower price option that's easier and faster for me to make (colored sketches), and this style conveys the general idea enough that I think people prefer it the most. It hits that sweet spot of being the right amount of detail for a low enough price. I might open for more commission requests in the future when this batch is done, but it may be a while because I have other things I want to do in-between batches.
I do still plan to draw more of my mom characters, especially as we get closer to Mother's Day. I'll have to carve out time between commissions to draw them.
— General Updates —
I got over my sickness (shortly after my last journal actually)! My diet is way better now; I'm eating more fruit, drinking more water, and getting more fiber daily. Actually, I tried a guava for the first time and they're really good, especially with the seeds (because they help with digestion).
My visa application for Colombia is still a work-in-progress. While that's processing, I've planned a short trip to the US and back from late April to mid-May. I have more of my stuff I need to pick up, and I want to see my friends and family.
I've actually been playing Pokemon Go a lot lately. I got curious to check in on how the game is now that I live in the middle of a big city, and it's way more fun here than it was before! It's a fun daily thing I look forward to doing, and I like earning rewards for just walking around outside. Speaking of daily things, I'm also playing TCG Pocket again (I picked it up in late 2024, but stopped shortly after). It feels nice having a daily thing to do.
Another game I'm playing lately is Prey 2017. I beat it several times years ago and also finished Mooncrash. The game is just really fun and I like replaying it. I'll probably start a Wrench-only challenge soon.
Still playing Nightreign constantly. Trying to reach Deep of Night Depth 5 - currently stuck in Depth 4.
Oh, and I don't remember if I mentioned it, but I picked up Monster Hunter Wilds and it's amazing! I finished the main story and now I'm in post-game, just getting myself beefed up. I might focus on that once I've had my fill of Prey.
