I also had issues with Linux that had me return to Windows.

I'd suggest Windows 10 with Extended Support

Had issues as well, my headset didn't have a Linux-compatible driver, and Bazzite couldn't use NTFS x,x so my 2TB drive of games was kinda useless for it.
went back to using Windows 10 for now.

I think having linux as a daily drive while dual booting Windows for playing games would be a nice solution.

Try bazzite os or Linux mint or zorin os also use proton experimental for proton it usually works better most games having issues are multi-player games with DRM that don't always play since with linux

Iirc they were using mint. Games with kernel level anticheat, so most popular multiplayer games, just won't run on Linux unless you want to put in a ton of work (and risk your account being suspended).

Linux is a bit of an investment getting up and running. There's a curve to it and dealing with odd compatibility issues like that can be a bit of a thing as you're getting up to speed. Shame it didn't work out, but every distribution has its own quirks and some genuinely just suck unless you're all but the most basic-bitch 'browser and word processor' sort of user.

Curious if you were using protondb to check that best version of Proton and launch options that help certain games? I hardly ever have issues with games on Steam but on the few instances I have, protondb helped me sort it out

And this is why Windows is a necessary evil.

Better keep windows for gaming and linux for everything else, like I do.
