Nothing did, the 'extended cut' was literally shining shit in the grand picture as, regardless of what is done leading up to it... Nothing changes.
Had there been a grand declaration of something like: "We want to coninue things in the Mass Effect universe, so some events won't be changeable in the full canon and the ending reflects this." I would have been more leaniant, but we were promised an ending that showcases the impact of all of our biggest decisions.
