Busy, busy, busy

Very off schedule, but still alive!

The seven-part commission is almost done. I’m down to the last one…and it is kicking my butt. Ironically, this last part is the story that was started first. It’s gone through several rewrites, been restarted twice, and I don’t even know why its being such a problem.

My entire schedule did get derailed though, as I got talked into doing something I’ve never done before. Last month, I participated in NaNoWriMo for the first time. I’ve heard about this activity for years, never done it before, and it was actually a lot of fun. I was able to finish the challenge too. Not sure if I’ll ever do anything with the story, but it was fun all the same.

I’m looking forward to having time to focus more on commissions (and hopefully finish this seven-part job).

Writing the end of the story first is such common advice, and I wonder why?  Stories frequently take on a life of their own as you write them.

Usually when I write a long format story, I have the beginning and the end in mind and I let the story in between unfold.
