The first part of my story Payment in Full got a substantial amount of views, surpassing most stories I've posted years ago in just a few days. This has encouraged me a great deal, and I've had a significant uptick in writing motivation. So thank you all for that.
Interestingly, the exact same story has flopped on my Ao3 account. Not sure what to make of that since I usually get a fair view count there. For some reason that story is doing even worse than the stories on my alternate account, which barely gets views. Maybe I forgot how to tag properly. Or perhaps the thumbnail I used here is just that enticing. Or it's just different strokes for different folks.
At any rate, I'm diligently working on part 2 of "Payment," and really hoping I can get it knocked out in time for Christmas. I'll try not to let that get in the way of doing Cunny Pages since I've put too much work into building that this year to let it slide. Not to mention it's been a massive help for me by forcing me to sit down and create. It's been shocking the amount of times I started scribbling with no motivation at all, and the next thing I know I'm starting to make something. I suppose I'm starting to learn how to crest those humps.
The difference is in how users see tags for a given post. On IB you have to hover over a post to see tags… which isn’t possible on mobile. You have to actually view the post, which drastically inflates the view count.
If IB only showed views for stories where someone stayed on a page for more than 30 seconds it would be a more accurate measure of views.

I guess that makes sense. I'm sure people are clicking on it and going "Ugh! Now I gotta clear my browser, you lousy fk!" but the fave count on that piece is high as well. I have stuff with much higher view counts because they've been up for so long, and far less faves.
