Fake Accounts

Never thought I'd see such an influx of fake artist accounts after resuming fanfics for the first time in a while... so irritating.

Word of advice for ppl getting into writing, if you haven't already gotten them: Just remember, no artist is gonna come to you asking to take a commission, offering 'fair rates' or any of that junk. If an offer sounds too good to be true, it's because it is.

I've had these scammers come after me a lot, on here, and I feel like they followed me from Deviantart.

Well I can safely say the only place I've shared fics is here and on Ao3. Oddly, though, I've only had one instance of this on Ao3. This is like my fourth one here on IB. Irritating but only as far as seeing a surprise PM and expecting either random private commentary or a query for a MidnightMod, only to get that shit.

AO3 have been monitoring this pretty closely. In my case, the once instance I got over there was so hilariously misguided (it was in english on a 200 words RPG in French from last year's tumblr game jam) that I couldn't stop giggling.

Doubt it. it's a widely used scam on tumblr and on AO3 too. The problem is that most manual moderation systems are extremely poorly equipped to deal with huge influxes of bot accounts.

Yeah I have had artists come to me on here, Discord, and Telegram asking if I would be interested in commissioning them. I try to be nice to decline but some are determined to want me to do so.
