The one who accompanied Rocky to Emberhold will not be the one to join as they prefer to keep the sweet gig of protecting travelers in the dangerous Ash Fields.
Sage was the smart one who helped with puzzles and explaining, plus they taught a member of Rocky's team how to speak like an outsider.
Cress was the blade so Rocky could charge up magic as doing both at the same time is impossible as changing magic requires concentration and using a blade requires your full attention.
