and can state that online? NEWS FLASH, you probably don't. If you can arrange a protest, speak out, or even do basic day-to-day things without general interference from your government you have no idea what a large portion of the world is actually going through.
As a side note, there are some dictatorships where one or more of those is still possible, however there are other signs as well that add proof to the fact.
For example, (and these are very, very few examples, not even naming the countries that still have literal slavery as well) there are countries where they are cut off from the world entirely, where accessing any information outside of their own internet provider (in the countries and areas they have internet in) is not only forbidden, but illegal and doing so will get you arrested.
So will watching foreign films.
Or existing if you're a certain religion, ethnicity, etc (and despite what you may have been led to believe, people being racist in particular countries, which is never okay, and should never happen, but is a simple and unfortunate fact of life that needs to be fixed so that it doesn't, is not the equivalent).
The number of people that have zero understanding of what that actually means, what actually happens to people who live under those conditions, who have no empathy for people actually living in such conditions or places, is appalling. A lack of humanity.
There is a difference (albeit slight, that should be studied closely to ensure they never cross that line) between authoritarianism, or authoritarian laws which have and can be actually used for a positive purpose, and dictatorship. Please study. Learn, grow, and empathize.
I'm more than open to discuss or debate either and all sides, however, please keep your comments civil, and do not insult anyone in the comments (if there ever are any, which, since I don't have a large following, I doubt there will be lol). Any comments directly attacking another user, insulting, and/or violate Inkbunny's terms of service, will of course be immediately deleted as soon as discovered.
Insulting me is perfectly fine however, as posting this can be taken as an acceptance of any and all criticism, as it constantly opens one up to.
I hope that people can talk honestly here and in other places to start coming together instead of fighting, to realize also where there are similarities, instead of only ever seeing the differences.
