Flash games... Why are they so damn addictive

Okay.  I was going to write... but I decided to have some fun first.    I went over to my favorite flash game site free world group.   I figured I'd spend  few minutes playing the newest offering, and I did I played Gornax for a few minutes and was mildly entertained.   but I was still kinda stressed so I went to a game I'd played before.   Flipping Dead It's an odd but fun game.  You play a teddy bear in shades trying to avoid zombies.  You have no weapons, and no means of attack  and the zombies keep spawning more and more coming in bigger and meaner ones too.  But there is a way to fight back.  Crates spawn in with the zombies, breaking them open gets you different things.  but the really important ones are the Rainbow crates.  Crack open a rainbow crate and you are teleported to the rainbow world for a few seconds.   In the rainbow world You are the zombie and everyone else is a tasty tasty human snack.  Your playing to see how long you can survive until you get munched.  But you also get goals (survive for so long, dodge flying eyeballs or zombie bites, crack open so many crates...) each time you fill a goal it adds to your next upgrade.  it unlocks new types of crates, new abilities, and new bonuses.  so you keep playing.

But why,  why do you keep playing is that next new sparkly thing really enough to pull you back in, why do I have a 300 dollar (or what ever ps3) with a game fly subscription when plopping down at a free website can keep me just as entertained.

PS.... on an unrelated note I was watching the dark knight and  Heath Ledgers Joker,  I love the preformance but I realised something   the voice he uses it sounds like Andy Dick

I feel like most Flash games are like Android/iPhone games: quick and simple satisfaction.  I was playing Assassin's Creed 2 earlier today.  I'm not going to get the level of satisfaction I get from free running in a Flash game.  I won't get the emotional involvement I got from walking through the manor in Amnesia in a Flash game.

One year from now, I'll remember the experiences I've had with my 60$ games, but I can't say the same with the Flash ones.

I kinda see what you mean, its either graphics or gameplay. Luckily I tend to find games that please me on both lvls.

I've found myself occasionally still going back to the second Pandemic game....

I guess console is more about playing with friends, and taking on sequels of old stories you love.
