Any good windows 10 alternatives?

Anyone know of any good alternatives? I'm currently using KUbuntu but there's certain things about it that annoys me that wants me to change back to windows...
My biggest issue with linux in and of itself is pathing issues where each program have a few dozen different pathing and directories in comparison to Windows more streamlined pathing.
My second is probably my biggest with compatibility problems with different programs, yes you have wine but there's still issues with it, especially if you need drivers that are windows specific.

So why not just going back to windows? I not only don't want to give microsoft my money or informationbut windows lack of privacy is something that makes me never wanting to use them ever again. When considering governments recent anti-privacy laws makes this really important to me.

I hear Linux Mint is good, and Proton is a great translation layer.

Everything I'm seeing says that Mint and Kubuntu with whine are your best options.
The only other closest thing I could find was ReactOS which is literally built as a Windows clone, but it doesn't seem to be recommended as a daily use OS cause it's still in "alpha". For some reason I was thinking FreeBSD was also an option but it seems to be less compatible than Kubuntu

Yeah, from my original research that's what i found too.
I'll check React OS out though yeah if it's in alpha might not be best as a daily OS

I never used Linux before, but i hear only good things about it and i will probably jump to Linux Mint if Win10 is no longer an Option.

Yeah, Linux have it's issues but it's a good windows alternative, though you sometimes have to tinker a bit to get some things to work that's not native or found in the software center.

Try Tiny 11, it removes the windows telemetry/spyware and the requirements and uses about 1GB RAM when active while still technically being "Windows 11" so you can have your games and programs and you can dual boot it with Kubuntu.

I will check it out, i think i've heard about it but been a bit apprehensive about how aggressively it disables telemetry going to Microsoft.

I run Linux Mint Cinnamon. Easy to use, stable updates. With Linux becoming more popular, more and more apps are working each day.

Yeah, popularity thankfully makes more and more companies and developers spend more time making their programs available on linux, hopefully it will continue since i really don't want to go back to windows, especially now that win 11 is becoming the only alternative.

The way Linux installs software is something you'll have to deal with. Windows does that to to some extent, installing parts of the program into several places in a user directory.

You may try Bazzite distro.

Yeah sadly if i will stick to linux i might have to get used to it and yeah windows does it too to an extent, though with windows it's all more centralized to a few paths within C: while with linux you don't know where it will install or put default pathways unless you manually check all the time.

I'll check out Bazzite

Linux mint might work.  not sure how well it would fix the pathing issue since it is also based on ubuntu.  OpenSuse is not based on ubuntu and it does use a different file system by default.  That said you will need to install some driver and codex to get best experience.  Not that it is hard on Suse just that for legal reason they can't include them in the version they distribute.

Probably nothing can fix my pathing issue as long as i use Linux, though i'm sure i'll be able to learn to live with it lol.

I'll look into OpenSuse, might be it fixes my issues.

I just use Linux Mint. I had some friends suggest Bazzite too. I was debating on using Debian directly but settled on the Mint fork. Cinnamon desktop is closest to the Windows style I like too. Beyond that most of what I do I've been able to do via Steam and Proton or a few other applications like Hero Launcher. Otherwise for my use cases I really don't have anything that really forced my hand onto Windows. It was just easier and now Linux is easy enough that I've gone to learn and deal with it.

I run linux mint cinnamon as well.
I like it.
I still have windows 11
But I don't use it much
Like 2 or 3 times all year.

Primarily to play Backyard Monsters refitted.

There is a Linux version of it but it doesn't work with mint for some reason.
The community said it was a specific Ubuntu version that it's built for.

An app image is supposed to have all the libraries and dependencies it needs.
But I guss the developer didn't focus on linux
