Working on a TTRPG Game and companion wargame slowly. I've been in a bit of a slump, some from good old summer doldrums, and some in a bit of a mental creative block. Lots of ideas, no idea how to turn them into 'things'
So, let me see what people actually want. I have a vague setting that honestly, probably works best kept slightly vague on purpose, to let GMs twist the exact details to their own nefarious needs.
System wise, it's probably a lot of system agnostic, but I will probably make some notes for Mutants and Masterminds 3E as that's the system I am thinking of using.
Setting wise, it is basically a toybox idea, that I joke is reverse Shadowrun. Take your usual generic D&D. You got those human good guy coalitions. You maybe got some adventure guilds, Harpers, Demons, Gods, extra planar forces, law V chaos. All that fun stuff in Baldur's Gate 3 basically.
Now advance the tech level 500 years. It's the far future of 2020. Technology and magic have merged, and 'modern day' culture has started to creep in. And just, extrapolate from there. Yes, it's RIFTS but not post-apocalyptic.
Some basic vibes: Big fascist human/metahuman coalition (elf, dwarf, gnome, human) runs the main empire, some slight anti-magic/anti-planar outsider vibes.
I run a big wheel style cosmology, that I lovingly dub the 'hub' cosmology. The four cosmic forces of Creation, destruction, order, and chaos influence the world and their astral influence creates those winds of magic we love. The prime Material plane is important despite having Feywilds, Shadowfels, pocket planes, as well as those whole host of inner and outer planes, because like in the SCION games, the stories and mythology and belief of the prime material plane as a whole influence the rest of the planes and gods. (Hey, it's Amber as well)
My personal aesthetic: D&D meets anime. Enchanted cyberware, wielding a wand in a powersuit, ghost in the shell operatives vs hippo trolls wielding autoshotguns. Go wild. With an emphasis on the 'fun' higher level chicanery D&D usually drops. At least for mine: want to be a full on adult dragon or sphinx or something. Go for it! D&D is just medieval supers, so now it's near future supers =D
Also bias on furries, thinking Pig orcs ala D&D 1e, mole kobolds, hippo ogres (yes, I just want Giff in my game, deal with it), but of course, since D&D is a big multiplanar mess, you could always sneak your own alternate realm critters in. Good luck getting ID paperwork ya weirdo ^.~
But yes, lots of exciting weird ideas for me. But trying to figure out how to package it all down into something useful for other people.
And yes, pondering some 5E stuff.... But... Ick, why, just use Mutants and Masterminds and have a point buy, narrative powers system and let players be creative and create their own styles and 'classes'
