Got called a “parasite” tonight by some rando on the Internet, because I’m disabled and don’t have a job.
To be honest, it hurt, because I know my own life better than some random dumbass online does, but I also know the power of the rumor mill. I had to deal with rumors when I was a teenager that resulted in me being beaten, harassed, shot, tortured, and other bad stuff from 1989 until I moved out of Oregon in 2010. I knew what I was then, but what I actually was didn’t matter to the people who believed the rumors. I was weird, so even if I had spoken up and told the truth of what I am, they still would have believed the rumors.
I have been accused online of being a lot of things that I’m not. They include, but aren’t limited to, “Child molester,” “child pornographer,” “rapist,” “rape apologist,” “alt-right,” “neo-nazi,” “special snowflake,” and of course, “parasite.”
With the possible exception of “special snowflake,” I’m none of these things. But that doesn’t matter to self-entitled manbabies online.
And what exactly is wrong with being a “special snowflake?” Snowflakes are all different, and so are human beings. The people who call me “special snowflake” are the same kind of people who demand that everybody be exactly the same as themselves, like they want 8 billion clones of themselves wandering around the planet echoing their every word and thought process, because they’re so frightened of people who are different than they are.
I’ve also been referred to as “thin-skinned.” It’s funny because they’re literally attacking me over my being different than them. If all I did to deserve your ill treatment of me was to exist on the same video game server as you do, doesn’t that make you the one with the thin skin? Especially when you consider there are tools so you don’t have to read my text such as the main menu mute feature, I’m pretty sure you’re the one being the crybaby here.
As for the “parasite” thing, I worked for my income, thank you very much. Like every American who works a wage job, I paid into the FICA tax, and as a disabled person who can’t work anymore, I deserve every penny I get, even if you don’t like it.
But of course, at the end of the day this really has nothing to do with where my money comes from. The reality is that the dude was offended that I am a scaly and that I am happy as Lilith. Because my name being popular among trans people and feminists somehow means I’m just another soldier in some pinko commie army that wants to destroy America by expecting American Evangelical Conservatives to treat me like a human being. Because, you know, common courtesy is soooo oppressive to their pwecious widdle feewings.
