Stuff n Things

by
Just making a journal entry about stuff.

So far I'm pretty happy with how things have been going with Cunny Pages.  It's sloppy, but it's supposed to be.  Some folks seem to like it and I get a few laughs, which is good for a comic by a dirty old man.  I don't know what to do for the next page, but I never know what I'm doing when I start a new one.  Just sit down and see who I start drawing and try to make a joke around them.  Been using "Timer" a bit more than I anticipated so I'm probably not going to use him this week.  I did make some sketches of a character I haven't used in over 13 years but I'm not sure when to introduce her.  Or what to introduce her as.  Maybe the school nurse. But I've introduced too many characters recently and I really should let it all breathe a bit before throwing in more.  Or not.  Whatever happens.

Got a little bit of writing done this week, which is a far cry from the zero I have been doing.  If I can manage to close up one hole in a chapter I'll actually have two completed chapters to post since I skipped ahead on that piece.  Although that work was on a project unassociated with this account so I'm not sure why I said anything.

All I can do is work on what wants to get worked on.  Strikes me as odd that I can force myself to do Cunny Pages, but I can't force myself to sit down and write.  End up opening something up just to stare at it.  Must be using different parts of my brain or something.  Or maybe I've created a habit with CP that I haven't managed to do with anything else.  Or it could be that CP doesn't have to make any sense and follow any logical story progression.  I've given myself the freedom to just fart on a page.

I've noticed I'm starting to approach 1000 watchers (some of which are probably still active).  Hoping I can get there by the end of the year.  Not sure what I'll do to commemorate the occasion.

Something to throw on the idea pile. I recall from long long ago during elementary and middle school, we held "field days". Semi-athletic events that everyone participated in (it was a convenient way to not be in class) and was sort of part picnic and part decathlon. Softball, tug-o-war, foot races, three legged races, sack races, horseshoes, and other bits where you earned tickets for small prizes.

Well, you can make up your own competitions in a series that could be pretty entertaining and it can give your large stable of characters something to do.

Also, who is to say that Cunny Pages cant inspire some written stories too! It can go both ways.

Well, my written story characters have already contaminated Cunny Pages.  There's no reason it can't go the other way.

I'd completely forgotten about Field Day.  But I seem to recall that Field Day was optional in my school, so if you wanted to just stay home that day you could.  Give me that option and I'll never show up.

LOL true... but then what about the fabulous prizes! ;) I think I just wanted the box of candy bars. (A great prize for a day spent dedicated to health and athleticism.)

It could make for an interesting side story though, along side a field day story... (in either comic or written) Just what would the "skippers" get up to?

Even as a kid I had learned that I wasn't the type to ever win anything, so the prizes didn't have much influence on me.  Pretty sure they were something like one Little Debbie or a ribbon or something, so not all that attractive compared to starting summer vacation one day early.

Of course, Pep Rallies were mandatory.

They held ours closer to Easter because the summer heat is brutal where Iived. But yeah, I was never "athletically gifted". Me and my body do not get along very well, never have. As for winning anything by chance.... you know... I cannot think of one instance where I won any kind of drawing or contest in my entire 55 years of life.

Oh, yeah.  I've never won a raffle or anything like that, so I gave up on that stuff.  My sister-in-law has like the most insane luck when getting raffle tickets.  It's to the point where she pretty much expects to win something.  Universal RNG totally favors her.
