I’ve never been one to clog up my profile pages with too much info—a journal seems like a much better place for ramblings. If you’ve wandered in, welcome. I’m glad you’re here.
So—Hello, I’m Julien!
I’m an artist and author who finds joy in exploring both the tender and the unsettling sides of storytelling. My work often dances between romance and horror, beauty and shadow—I love creating characters who feel raw and real, even in the strangest of worlds.
I’m someone who’s always been drawn to stories, whether they’re told through words, images, or the strange places in between. I love lingering in the quiet details: the way a moment feels, the weight of a glance, the ache of longing or the thrill of fear. That’s what I try to capture in my art and writing.
My work tends to be character-driven, often circling themes of love, obsession, vulnerability, and transformation. Sometimes it leans romantic, sometimes eerie, often both. I enjoy building worlds and exploring headspaces that blur the line between comfort and unease because the human psyche is beautifully nuanced like that.
Outside of art, I’m a lover of books, music, and the small rituals of daily life that keep me grounded. I believe creativity is as much about reflection as it is about expression—and I hope sharing here can spark both.
Feel free to say hello in the comments, share your thoughts, or just enjoy quietly—any way you choose to be here is welcome. ♡
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Here’s to new beginnings, and to the art that keeps us company in the dark and the light.
I suppose that depends on what genre you like to read, but I am as much into reading dark fiction as I am writing and drawing it. Some of my favorites are:
Dune — Frank Herbert Father of Sci-Fi
McGlue — Ottessa Moshfegh Very tragic story about an alcoholic sailor from the 1800s who’s being tried for the murder of his best friend
Zombie — Joyce Carol Oates Stream of consciousness style book about a man named Quinton, who’s story is based on the life of serial killer Jeffery Dahmer
Bones and All — Camille DeAngelis Cannibalism is the truest form of love
Exquisite Corpse — Poppy Z. Brite This one is hard to explain, so I’ll copy the Wiki summary: The novel unfolds in alternating chapters from the points of view of the four main characters. Andrew Compton, a convicted serial killer (based on serial killer Dennis Nilsen), escapes his UK prison cell in a self-induced cataleptic trance. Mistaken for dead by the authorities, he makes his way to New Orleans' French Quarter to start a new life. Seeking new victims, he instead meets Jay Byrne (based on Jeffrey Dahmer), a wealthy recluse who is also a serial killer, as well as a cannibal. The two at first intend to victimize one another, but upon realizing their similar proclivities, instead begin a torrid affair based on sex and murder.

Thanks! I've been considering getting into reading again and some genres appeal more than others. Ever read Isaac Asimov? I might try those out - McGlue sounds pretty neat too! I wonder how good the Dune books are compared to the movies, both old and recent.
