Need an art advice <3

Hello everynyan :3 I really want to improve my art style, but I don't know who to ask for an advice or in what tutorial find anything for this, so I decided to ask it here ^^ I want to make my art a bit more detailed and pleasant for eyes, yet keep it simple at the same time. Does anybody know what should I do? (〃゚3゚〃)

I'm no artist, but this artist has a pool called "Art Journey" that might be useful.

Your art is actually so well detailed, and improvement totally depends on what area you would like to become better, character design, clothing, backgrounds, composition and story telling

One thing I found really interesting to do actually with the IA boom, was to chose a model I like and study it, and see what it do well and how

why that?, well IA are actually a statistically trained thing so when you ask it to do some kind of thing it actually search in its database for the most popular coincides with what you prompt, and join them in a result, that means that the most of results (well done results of course) will be visually satisfying to the most because are statistically done of the best arts it found in its data base XD

So if it learns using our arts, why we can't learn from their results XD

At least I get some advice on color use from this because if are on some thing good IA are using color
and the best thing is that you no need to learn about it, are a lot of guys that post IA images every where
only search for one you like and study it

That's truly a good advice and a perfect use of AI as a creative tool instead of a full replacement of the hard work

It is practically an infinite reference source, It also works for poses and basic composition; it doesn't replace real style or artistic references but it can save you a lot of time

You have a very solidified art style, you appear to be quite good at what you do! But of course we all have things we could improve to make our art even better. In the spirit of that, here's the things I would suggest you work on:

- Shading. I notice you flat-color most of your stuff, and since you use thin, mostly uniform lines, most of the shape is inside the lines. I'd suggest you do more with Value to give your characters more depth.

- More variation in line width. Having lines that taper can give you opportunities to sell more depth and anatomical interaction.

- Gesture. More flow to your poses would make the cuteness even sharper.

- Perspective. Always good to practice! Especially good at making small characters look even more adorably small.

- Just personally, I'd play around with more detailed eye shine! Stuff that really draws the viewer to the face!

Thank you for advice! <3 Shading and line width is such a pain to me TwT But I guess I really should stop putting it off and finally learn it n.n

Your style is pretty good and truly solid so I can't think more improvent besides keep practicing :3

But there are some post production tips I use to add extra crunchy

-Blend modes helps when you try to give a piece certain mood or "atmosphere", like adding more emphasis on the lightning

-Adding textures over the flat colors is also nice to give a picture some "flavor", there are a plenty ways to do it, just a single texture that covers the entire pic, or add it depending the material (clothing, wood, fur) just be careful and avoid saturation

-Text, dialogues, onomatopoeias and motion lines; all of these are trully helpful specially when you want to set a scene. A cute/lewd picture is fine, but adding some context gives it more depth; it's not always required.

If you want an extended tutorial of anything I listed feel free to ask; I am a bit busy but I'll do my best to answer any question!

My one tip would be to play around with line variation. It's one thing I struggled with when I was doing art, but when it's done, and done well, it can help mask some issues while also improving the visual flow and make other areas pop better.

Thank you for advice! <3 Line variation is really hard to me just as the whole line art on general TwT And the worst part is that I can't find any good tutorials for it o(ㄒoㄒ)

And about the line style, it's hard to write a full tutorial but I can give you a basic formula I use to do a proper thickness variation ;3

Thinner lines - Shape Volume + Thicker lines

Thinner lines + Level Of Detail - Thicker lines

Examples:

-Round, big and less detailed parts like hips, butts, certain clothing or hair volumes have thicker lines (Usually these require single brush strokes to be drawn, so you can play with the pressure to give it a smoother transition and a more dynamic look)

-Small and detailed parts like mouths, accesories, naughty bits or individual hair locks have thinner lines (These require well defined and precise brush strokes, I recomend you to use a smaller brush size for the base and add more thickness as is required)

-Detailed parts but relatively voluminous like flat chests, snouts or hands have an intermediate line thickness

-I also add extra thickness to the entire contour to highlight the silhouette (Except for smaller details that may lose the volume looking by adding more line thickness like individual hair locks, eyelashes or other small details that protude from the main shape)

This isn't a definitive guide so isn't necessary to follow it at 100%, feel free to adapt it to your style and workflow :3
