Submissions blocked

Hey Folks,
most of my submissions were blocked, because I violated rules of "monetizing AI".

I just want to be clear about that everything I post here is found on my patreon stream for free as well.

Until I found out a safe way how to continue without breaking the rules, the submissions remain blocked here.

Thanks for your support,
Kovu

Did they say the exact reason? Because if the problem is your Patreon, then the rules don't say anything about subscription services for AI

But this might is the problem actually.

For now I assume that the problem is mentioning my patreon in the description of ai generated or assisted submissions.

" For now I assume that the problem is mentioning my patreon in the description of ai generated or assisted submissions.

This isn't against the rules either.

" For all AI-generated or AI-assisted content:

You must not post work using closed-source tools or services that do not make their code and models freely available for others to reuse in an equivalent manner
This includes services such as Midjourney and NovelAI that are based on proprietary models
You must not use the names of living or recently-deceased creators (within the last 25 years) or their non-commercial characters as prompts without their permission, nor train models and/or use artist-focused LoRAs to obtain a similar effect
The description must contain all prompts, seeds and LoRAs passed to AI tools and must indicate the generator, training model and version or hash used - for advanced projects that cannot be described in this manner, attach the workflow JSON as an additional file

" If your work is mostly or fully generated by AI:

The work must be tagged with the ai_generated keyword, the name of the tool and model that was used
You must not solicit commissions, donations or paid adoption for such content
You must use a multi-file submission containing no more than six pieces of work for work generated via the same prompt

" If you used an AI tool to assist in the creation of assets or backgrounds for an otherwise manually-created work:

The image must be tagged with the ai_assisted keyword, the name of the tool and model that was used
You must indicate what parts of the work were AI generated in the description
You may sell and offer commissions for content using AI-generated assets or backgrounds, but you must notify customers of its use beforehand

" If you used an AI tool to modify your own work, such as frame interpolation or upscaling:

You must include the original input as part of the submission or as a scrap
No extra sale restrictions or keyword requirements apply

Those parts in bold are the only parts of the ACP that mention something about monetizing AI. Nothing is said about subscription services.

Well, now I learned that patreon as a "monetization plattform" (quote) is counted as exact that:
" You must not solicit commissions, donations or paid adoption for such content

I did clearly asked for support and linked directly to patreon under these submissions. So that makes me guilty at least.

However, a nice admin person helped me to figure out how to safely continue without violating the terms. Once I changed the descriptions I can turn the submissions back on again.

As for all, friends AND enemies of ai, everything is pretty new and experimental, we all can benefit from these kind of experiences. I'll write a more detailed journal about this topic.

If that counts, then they have to be more specific. I mean, I access that ACP all the time and it never even crossed my mind that what you were doing breaks the rules. If that segment was written something like this:
" You must not solicit commissions, donations, paid adoption or any form of financial support for such content

Then it would make you 100% guilty, because it would mean that we can have subscription services, we just can't ask people to subscribe to it. But the way that it is written right now would make anyone think that this is the case only for commissions, donations and paid adoption.

The IB staff is pretty chill. I'm glad they helped you. I know some websites where the mods simply punish the user and ghost them if they try to figure out why they were punished 🤢

Clarifying how things are written is something I'd like us to do but it's a slow process, but support via Patreon would be considered either donations or commissions, depending on if there were incentives.

Since I am no english native speaker I would really appreciate makeing things easier to understand.
" "You must not solicit"
is great rethorical style, but it got me confused :-(

Not trying to hate or anything but yeah, I feel like AI shouldn't be monetized in any way shape or form. I like your generations but when I saw you were plugging Patreon a lot for alts/AI art I was kinda like....eh, why you trying to make money off it? Just have fun and share stuff.

Answer is simple: Generating Images is costly. It costs time and servertime, or if you work with your own hardware, the hardware costs are hardly bearable. Nothing comes for free, even if it's "just for fun". I believe that you know all that, since you make ai as well :-)

And I do exactly that: I have fun with it and I share my stuff. I kindly invite people to support me with the ongoing costs only if they want to. When they do so, they also help you to enjoy my images for free. It feels fair to me to offer them some special access if they are so kind to support me. Being thankful feels just human to me.

Also: As a creative professional working for over 2 decades in the industry I see lots of parallels in this ai-debate with former debates. So yeah, I believe that ai emerges as some sort of new art form - in which the focus shifts more to crafting ideas and concepts rather than brushstrokes and graphical craftsmanship. I understand that this is scary af for some artists, but I think dealing with it is the only way to stay in control of it.

And that's the other point: It may seems that I only make tacky remote pictures for porn, but the underlying truth is, that I experiment with lots of generative and neural concepts to gain a truely artistic and creative approach to it. I hope that this will emerge in higher artistic quality of my outputs later, when I try to make more than just porn. And as I always considered myself as an artist, I'll try to communicate that artistical approach always deserves something in return, be it whatever artform there can be.

I hope that helped to give some insights regarding my motivation. And I appreciate that you share your critical thoughts with me without hate and on a constructive basis <3

OK so a lot of what you said I DO agree with, and I actually like that we're having a cordial conversation about this instead of person A or B feeling attacked xD So hear me out!

A) Costly how? It's not costing you anything to generate images - apart from your energy bills of running a PC. Time, sure, but so does actually drawing, or going out to the store, or driving a car. You're not paying for the servers or hardware, you're simply using a program that spits out images with certain prompts. Unless for some reason you're hosting your own server farm or something which I find hard to believe. Or if you're still using websites that have time limits on gens instead of just using stable diffusion or comfy ui on your own machine. Do you support and donate to all the LORA's you use (for free) to the creators? Most likely not, I haven't (yet).

B) Also as a person in the creative idustry that also has a lot of experience under their belt, I agree that AI is this kinda new found art form and that people need to get ahead of the curve on it and reluctantly embrace it a bit for how its going with its use - but instantly using it to try make a quick cash grab feels wrong to me. It's like a meme crypto coin (a stretch at that comparison I will admit but I think you get what I'm saying).

C) OK cool you also fuck around with the tools out of your content (which again who's paying for that? It's you right? Man must be costly...). Then share it? Sure I don't post everything I gen but I also like to share stuff that I find the community would like that might not be porn or lewd, but just stuff I gen and go "Man I love how this turned out!".

Again not trying to be an ass or some across hateful or anything like that - will say again, I follow you, I like your gens, but it's not an excuse to monopolize it and advertise yourself for monetizational gain. I only started like 2 or 3 months ago, and I wanted to make stuff and share and be part of a community. My eyes didn't light up with dollar signs when I realized there's a trend for this stuff.

Anyways, sorry to ramble, I saw you're large reply and read it through-out and wanted to share my opinions - bygones be bygones, you keep doing you, I might not like it but I aint gonna hate for it!

A) I first started with SD on my own PC. Then my GPU was like: "Wow man, I didn't signed up for THAT" - and died. Since I had a spare one (to old to do ai with it) it wasn't the end of the world. Since then I work with GPU rental web services. This costs time and money, but as I consider this a hobby, I'm willing to spend it to do it. As I do spend money on colors for painting or sheet music for my instruments.

C) You could ask the same question to a youtuber, a street artist or even a musician... This is something you could honestly ask every hobbiest - if you do it for fun, why charge something? If we debate about that, I'm pretty sure this would end up in some sort of philosophical or anthtropo-cultural discussion, where only opinions exist, no solution.
I also charge, if someone want's me to play on their wedding or birthday, eventhough I have fun doing it, and also not bein dependant on that money. When someone wants a picture from me, they have to buy it. It helps people to understand that art is worth it. It's not different with ai, if you consider making it an artform.

And to be honest: There is no need to have dollersigns in the eyes :-) I'm not rich, and the money coming via Patreon is nothing to pay my rent from... but again: Without it would be hard to keep it going, so I'm happy some people support me.

I kinda like to see this as a classical form of patronism: In History artist always tried to find people for financial support to be able to do what they liked... be it composers, novelists, philosophers or painters. So I continue doing my stuff, continue sharing it for free, continue showing my gratitude to everyone nice supporting me.

And thank you for that respectful conversation :-) If everyone was so decent, the world would be a better place.

It's all good! I just think we have different views on stuff and that's totally fine! :> For one instead of paying for a remote GPU service, save up some cash and get a new GPU that can handle it. You talked about having years of experience and being a industry vet so you must have some cash under you, even talked about there spending money on paint and sheet music, and also instruments - they are expensive!

Thanks for the discussion, it's interesting getting someone else opinion on this stuff - and through your counter arguments I still mostly disagree, but again you keep doing you dude!
