Spotti was a researcher/professor and responsible for the heart rate monitor in smart watches. He was also a huge icon and pillar of the furry rubber and kink community. In particular I don't think the furry rubber scene would be nearly as welcome/accepted today without his influence.
He was also truly unapologetic about being a furry, going so far as to deliver lectures at Stanford in suit.
I was lucky enough to have known him, albeit not very well. He was such a cool guy, and down to earth and chill despite his influence. I was at one of his parties literally the day that pcmag article came out and despite it being arguably a pretty big thing to happen, everyone was just chill and he wasn't boastful or anything like that. Just kink with good vibes. He created this welcoming environment and I don't think I would feel nearly at home in these kinds of kinky spaces were it not for being around him and the events he hosted.
