I thought it was time to give you all an update on the Mlinzi series and, more specifically, Mlinzi: Cold Reception.
To cut the long story short, I need more time to make Cold Reception the best story it can be. I originally planned for it to be a short story, only about 5-10 chapters long. However, as I’ve worked on it further, the ideas have expanded, and now it’s looking to be at least 20 chapters long.
Also, work on this story has been slower than usual for me. I’m currently only on Chapter 4. Normally, this time into a story, I’d be 6-7 chapters in. The slower pace has improved the quality of the story considerably, though, at least according to my test groups, so I hope the extra time and slower pace will make for a stronger story overall.
Originally, I pencilled the release of Mlinzi Cold Reception to 2nd February 2026. Because of the points made above, I’ve decided to put the release of Cold Reception on hold until I’m closer to finishing it. I know this will be a letdown to some of you, and the hype and interest in the story and series will drop, but to make it the most memorable and strongest story it can be, this is a sacrifice I must make. I just hope you stick with me during these moments of drought.
I’d also like to give a shoutout to Pridelands After Dark and The Lion King Feral communities. They’ve been a huge help and support for my development as a writer. They’re both amazing communities for Lion King fans.
