HELP - Inkbunny's shitty uploader

by
I'm trying to actually write stories properly, and include the proper formatting for writing... but that means writing with italics.

That means not using .txt files for writing anymore.

Inkbunny's shitty uploader only accepts a few file formats, and none of the ones I have tried (all 3: txt, rtf, doc) preserve italics. So, unless I go in and MANUALLY ADD all the italics to things, which sounds like a fucking chore, I have no clue what to do.

Also, in my most recent story, the story just... cuts off. I uploaded a .doc file, and it cuts off randomly. It's fine, since I have to link offsite for the whole story anyway, so a ruined upload is ruined further, oh on. But I have NO idea WHY it randomly cut off.

It's super fucking frustrating. Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this issue?

I stopped using doc files and switched to RTF just because I always had to copy and paste the story text into the box anyway to fix it turning ' into ? All the time. I have to manually space paragraph breaks but idunno if there's a way to just make it work properly from the start. I don't mind doing shit manually because I don't post all that often, but I can see It getting extra frustrating for people that post more often than me.

I run into that encoding issue sometimes, but not often. Italics are my current bane.

Yeah, what SS said - I haven't found any meaningful method to get a clean import out of any accepted document format either.

I wish they'd update from BBcode to markup like it's the 2020s

Lots of things would be an improvement.

I'm dumb, so I wanna ask, do you just import the document in here and then it'll put out a clean copy of it for posting?

Basically, yeah. I can copy and paste from a docx to it, and it'll replace all italics with the proper bracketed codes. And other things that would need changed, too. I had to copy and paste from word to google docs first, for some weird reason, though.

Honestly, I don't know. I've been writing up here for almost 10 years and only .txt format has been the most reliable and even then, sometimes there's spacing issues that I'll have to go back and read over to make sure they're right.

I mainly use txt because, for me, RTF just doesn't work and I'll have to manually upload the entire story in a full (where .txt just uploads it, mostly no problem).

It's more work but it at least saves me the trouble of having to copy paste and reformat the whole story for easy reading.

Yeah, I used txt files for everything until very recently, but it won't do anything for rich text. Waffle's link was a big big help, though
