I get up, feeling relatively decent, boot up the computer, turn my browser on, and go look at FA.
Oh, there’s a comment. I look, it’s a new person I’ve never seen before, commenting on my most recent journal. Let’s go see what it is...
Oh. It’s someone policing my emotions, talking about this third party they argue with complete with mentioning their username some three different times only to claim that they’re calm and that “I don’t name and shame.”
Uh huh. Sure. Because you totally didn’t just name and shame a completely unrelated person in three paragraphs of your comment, idiot.
You did a complete CTRL+F of all mentions of the word “bigot” and found none directed at me by the person I was arguing with? Really? And that’s relevant how exactly? She didn’t use the word when talking to me, but she did use the word when talking to other people about the same exact topic as the one she and I were talking about. It doesn’t take a genius to read comments and understand them in the context they’re written in.
When a teenager tells their parent “everyone is doing it,” they don’t mean literally every human being on the face of the planet. The parent knows this, which is why the teenager rolls his eyes and sighs when the parent acts as if they do mean that. The problem is not with the teenager, it’s with the parent who gets all pedantic about the exact definition of the word “everyone” just so they don’t have to deal with what the teenager is actually getting at.
You're just like that parent: knowing full well the context but refusing to deal with it so you can make your opponent look stupid.
So, you’ve come onto my page and accused me of overreacting, of making false accusations, implied that I’m “naming and shaming” even though I never mentioned a name and you did.
In short, you are policing my emotions and gaslighting me.
Ironically, you did give a decent piece of advice. I shouldn’t argue with assholes and should instead block them. I haven’t blocked the person I was arguing with because, while I didn’t like her attitude she stuck to the topic.
You, on the other hand... I’ve hidden your comment, and my responses to your comment as they are now redundant. And I’ve blocked you, because rather than dealing with the actual subject at hand you decided to side-step it entirely and focus on my emotions in an attempt to make me look like a fool. I don’t take kindly to character assassination, something I’m sure you’d find to be equally an “overreaction.”
At the end of the day, though, you’re just another stupid name that’s been added to my blocklist for being an abusive asshole to me. Good job, you really showed me!
Idiot.
