"You are a little soul carrying around a corpse."
-Epictetus
Never forget: what you and others perceive in flesh and blood is temporary, fallible, and in no way special or unique.
You are not defined by your skin color, how you wear your hair, or what your voice sounds like. What is between your legs, growing in your armpits, or simply supporting the weight of so much meat will one day be nothing. Gone forever.
Your deeds, however, the memories of who you are and what you did, the very essence of yourself that you have shared with others will remain after your passing. The "soul" is what cannot be defined, cannot be weighed or measured or studied. It is, in its most basic description, the core of who you are.
Everything else is but a temporary trapping to adorn this core of your being, and you are but one of billions.
Never think highly of yourself for what trappings and adornments your little soul carries about. Instead, choose to enrich and grow your soul. Leave a mark on those around you. Create a legacy.
Do something great, that people will wish to speak of the quality of your soul, rather than the brief time your body ambled about the Earth.
