It's not too often that I feel the need to express myself in a journal about the state of things. Though I'm sure as many can agree, the state of civil rights for not only LGBTQ people and in general, the average citizen is absolutely abysmal. Trump's administration has given plenty of conservative states carte blanche to do what they want, how they want, and when they want.
States like Texas have seemingly been empowered by Trump's rhetoric to curtail the rights of their people. They've repeatedly targeted queer communities and identities for the sake of enacting a Christian fundamentalist vision that's rooted in Bush-era cronyism and a genocidal, Israel-first mentality.
Whether it's targeting 'adult' sites like Inkbunny and things consenting adults do behind closed doors, or trying to make their states hostile in overall culture and discrimination in bureaucratic methods to queer people, the lawmakers running these states don't even seem to follow Trump's ideals, rather they're somehow worse than him and are trying to shape life in these areas to what they've been wanting to do for decades now.
This isn't a call to action, but it's to say that all of you amazing people on here, gay straight and everywhere in between, should learn to protect your identities and resist the current state of affairs if you live in this country. It's dehumanizing, it's wrong, and our world has been turned upside down in the last eight years to where we think insanity is normal.
If you're one of the marginalized, know that there are people desperately fighting for your rights and trying to stop the descent that our country is going into. Know that there are people willing to listen, and your struggles are valid.
Have a wonderful day, everyone.
