I cut the shit out of my finger

Okay, it's not actually that bad, but I did cut a small chunk off the tip of my left index finger. Our kitchen knives are super sharp, yo!

Unfortunately, the bandage covering it while it heals makes typing really hard, and why the hell do so many words have a fucking T in them!? >_< Unfortunately, all my writing is on hold while this heals because of that, and it's not exactly comfortable to press it against a key, especially at the speeds I tend to type at. No 90+ WPM for a while.

T_T It's killing me to not write anything.

Should be healed up enough in a few days, but still sucks. It is looking better than it did a few days ago. Still red as fuck where the raw skin is exposed. At least I didn't cut into the nail. My mother did that last year, and it took several weeks for it to finally heal enough that it didn't hurt to type.

Still have a few early access stories that will be coming in the next week, but will be a pause after those.

Clearly you should do a challenge where you type using your phone and thumbs.

I think I'd shoot myself before I reach my first 1k trying to do that.

Yeah it really sucks when that happens. Especially when it's the index finger. Never think about how often or with how much force we use our fingers until it hurts to use them.

Learned that one the hard way with arthritis a few years ago. Just wish life wouldn't keep reminding me in other ways. >_<

Curling your fingers inwards so the flat of your blade touches the middle joint gives you a good guide to prevent the edge from catching your fingers like it can when holding them outstretched

Oh, I've been helping in the kitchen since I was able to stand on my own. Literally, there's pictures of me as a toddler helping with baking, and I'm still the sous chef in our kitchen, and we cook almost daily. I do the prep work, like the cutting and mixing of sauces, toppings, etc. So it's only natural that after almost four decades, I'll catch myself with a blade every so often. This isn't the first time I've cut myself in the kitchen, and I doubt it will be the last. Still not as bad as some of the burns I've gotten.

Oh, and I have tried the curled finger thing. I catch my knuckle far more often that way. I was just a bit careless while cutting up a zucchini.

Yeah I feel you there. I have RA and there are times when my hands are no better than painful clubs. I cant even make a fist with my right hand anymore. I got real good at typing with my knuckles.

Osteoarthritis for me. Repetitive motion from my time as a massage therapist. Lots of pressing on the wrists. Even with good body mechanics, it's gonna get worn out after a decade or so of doing it. Left side is the worst, and naturally, that's the side that got cut this time, heh.

I'm sure it will. Few days of discomfort, and it'll be healed enough for me to get back to work again.

Believe it or not, fingertips can grow  back as long as it's not to the bone or if there are no complications. Keep it clean, lightly bandaged, and when it is past half-way healed let it have some air and light use. Good luck!

Oh, I know. Like I said in another post, I've cut my finger more than a few times. It's just a small piece, mostly skin. Most of the bleeding stopped after only around 20 minutes, which was pretty good for how much of a chunk looks like its missing. Right now it's at the uncomfortable / throbbing part. Should be fine to be exposed in a day or two, but right now I don't want to leave the raw new skin open to possible infection.

Heh. I don't know if even I could make a simple cut on a finger interesting.
You're better off watching the parody Julia Child skit from classic SNL
