Blogging stuff: Reasons for art.

Hi~

I am currently trying to open my way into blogging once again. So I decided to start blogging in all my socials and analize which one gets more attention. This week I was supposed to start blogging here but the massive amount of work and the lack of rest got me bad. I don't wanna miss the chance to share my thoughts here though, Inkbunny seem such a nice comunity.

Now... how about I tell you a little about me so you get to know me better?

I ask a lot of questions to myself, and from time to time there is a question that always comes back to my mind: "why do I draw?"

I mean, it is beeing teched in art schools that art comes from the human necessity of expressing ourselves. But then I think... what am I trying to express if the only thing that I draw is just porn?

And that got me thinking, what are my reasons to make art anyway?

First of all, art is something that is being teached in elementary schools since we were child for many reasons, for developing abilities to give a peak of our minds in some cases.

When we are kids we realize that is something that we can simply do. And I think there is no better time to be an artist than when we are kids. Because in our very beggining of our artistinc journey we don't really care about quality, we just go for it without caring if we suck at it.

I am not sure that as kids we do art just as a hobby or because there is true communicative intentions, as kids we are to passional to tell, we make drawings to show affection towards someone we feel true love for, like making drawings for mom and dad as an example. But then again, what else are we supposed to do when we are kids? kids have no responsabilities, the world is theirs! so... does it mean that kids do art just as a hobby because they got nothing elese to do anyway? or do they have a true neccesity to express themselves with art?... is it both maybe? ... man, who knows at this point?

What is interesting is that, as we grow older, some of us realize that we can actually make true masterpieces with art. That is a true point of inflection, some of us will drop art because it makes no sense to do something that others are already great at, and some others will feel inspired by those with talent, those are the ones that are going to say "I wanna be like them" and will give new live to their artistic journey.

At this point we can already tell that there are reasons to make art as there are reasons for not doing it. If we decide to continue with art, reasons will tend to grow stronger as we grow too. But some of us are not that intrusive, some of us do not ask deep and serius questions to ourselvs to really explain our own behavior. Some of us are just unmotivated artists, and I really gotta stop for a bit to explain this thought.

You see... Having reasons is not the same as having a motive. You can have many reasons, whatever reason it is, it's on you, but you only need one motive to move the engines in your actions. Usually motives are more important than reasons. You can lack the reasons to do something and say that you do it just because, but as long as there are motivations you won't stop doing it. But what happens when it the opposite? when you lack the motivation having all the reasons in the world. That is probably the most sad and abundant situation of artists right now. If you don't believe me, think about how many artists do you know that are getting through an artistic block or in hiatus. Do you believe they don't have reasons to do art? OF COURSE DE DO HAVE REASONS! but they lack the motivation.

Personaly, I have no motive to do art anymore, but I still do it anyway, and I'm fine with it because this just something I like to do, I am mentally mature enough to handle this situation without stressing myself for it, but I know not everyone have the same mentailty.

I think too many artists don't know how to handle this situation. It's tough, but is not necessarily bad.

And to finally finish this blog, I'll resume it in this thought: Do not get distracted by the reasons and motives to do art. Remember that both concpets are not the same, REASONS are just justifications for what you do and MOTIVES are the fuel that pushes you and your actions forward. Lacking one of them is not a big deal, you can still manage to make art anyway, but not having both is signal that your journey has come to an ending, don't push it if is not worth it.

I hope my words stays with you forever. Take care, everybody. Have a nice one~
