Unfortunate News

by
My PC has decided it has had enough. After troubleshooting with some friends, we think it's more than likely a dead drive. I have a plan going forward to at least finish the few commissions I have yet to finish, but yeah. Not exactly the thing I wanted to have happen this week :T

Ahh, misfortune. Better luck getting this new obstacle out of your way. Just try not to worry about your standing commissions! You can only do what you have the means to accomplish.

Eh, depends on the kind of PC. If it's a Mac, you'll need to take it to an Apple store and get charged up the nose, possibly also if it's a thin-form-factor laptop. If it's a desktop PC, though, actually physically replacing the hard drive/SSD isn't too difficult, nor is obtaining a replacement. You'll probably need a screwdriver, and that's about it. In a less-than-thin laptop (say, a Thinkpad, or a gaming PC), you'll also need a spudger to actually get the laptop open. You can buy one on Amazon or Temu for cheap.

What MAY be difficult is, if it's *the boot drive*, getting Windows reinstalled-- or Linux, but if you're running Linux I'm sure you don't need a comment on Inkbunny to tell you what to do.

Look up a few guides online for help-- if it's an off-the-shelf PC I'm sure there's a video explaining how to open up the case and stuff, and there's definitely guides on how to reinstall Windows.

In either case, in the case of a dead drive, kiss the data that was on it goodbye. Hope you kept backups somewhere.
