Court date delayed again

Thursday, May 15 was the next date scheduled for my court appearance but the attorney informed me it was cancelled again due to the prosecution not handing over their 'witness list'. I am assuming it will be delayed yet another month which continues to delay making any plans or getting back to somewhat normal. While the attorney did say it could takes years to resolve, July 3 will be the first year.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I used to live in Florida, and where I was the entire system was corrupt. The cops literally controlled the drug trade, and if you were not on their side, the courts would ruin you. I was lucky to have a friend who lived in a different state was able to take me in before my stepbrother would have ruined my life. My stepbrother was dealing drugs, and eventually got caught with a meth lab in his car. So yeah, I was glad I refused to go anywhere with him as I would have been arrested and charged for that too if I was in the car with him when he got pulled over.

Sadly, with your case, this feels like purposely done delay tactic to try and drain your funds so you will drop the case.

Yes, that's what they do. It's funny how they get to violate people's rights and the Constitution and get away with it but when you carry out the rights given by the Constitution they come down hard on you... and they say the US is supposed to be better than the other countries that do this same thing to their people.

IDK if you've noticed but the whole of the USA's systems are rapidly going to the shitter. People are loosing rights left & right, and there are checkpoints along the Canadian border to prevent people from trying to escape.

It has been like that from the beginning. They just hide it although it is becoming more obvious now but the people are either brainwashed or too scared to do anything about it... and that is how those in charge want it to be. If it weren't for my tribe's original lands being here, and if I was able to afford it, I would leave the US. If I want to live in a dictatorship I would go live in a dictatorship that is open and honest about its tyranny, unlike the US which lies to its people and treats them just as badly but does so quietly and secretly.

The US took a lot from Great Britain but it is mostly based on the Roman Empire and they were not nice at all.

Damn... Is there no way of forcing them to give that in mannered time? Or anything as its slowly waste of public money etc?

It is their law, and policy, that all information is supposed to be shared in a timely manner. But Marion county and the State of Florida have already proven they believe they do not have to abide by even their own rules. Most likely I will have to pay the court costs.

Maybe have your lawyer make a motion for contempt alongside motion to compel the list? It probably won't work, given that you're targeting the state prosecutor, but there's a small chance the judge might be sufficiently miffed about the scheduling getting shuffled like that to actually do something.

The attorney is handling it. For the amount they charge, they should know what they are doing. He hinted that he may demand that the charges be dropped given the prosecution's constant delay is sharing information. But the judge is a county judge and he will do what he is ordered to to.

And as predicted, the court date was delayed again until July 10, a year and seven days after I was arrested. So for a whole year, I still have to wait and see if I can try to go back to my life.
