I've made journals on what's up with my folks and I would've made this journal yesterday, but I was so worn from all of the info that I had to take in with the family.
So yesterday, me and my brother went to Dad's bedside. his condition has improved and there are plans to discharge him Monday. But the reason to see him at bedside was to discuss mom. The three of us had a meeting with the doctors working on Mom in the Intensive Care Unit, and they filled us im:
Worse COPD condition with her lungs has worsened to the point where the breathing machine is now doing all of the breathing for her. This past thursday night, Friday morning, the doctors informed me and my bro that nutrition was going well and the feeding tube was save to remove from her, and her breathing issues are improving to start weaning her from the breathing tube. It was positive news, things were getting better, and then her lungs took a hit. As the three of us talked to the doctors on Saturday, they pretty much explained that Mom was fully reliant on the breathing machine and we were to discuss how to move forward.
Her lungs are completely shot, and even with Chest compressions, odds are that they will be unsuccessful. The three of us talked and agreed to have the doctors give my mom as much time as possible, as mom would be a fighter to then end, it's what she wants, and the doctors agreed. Even with this in mind, Mom has anywhere from hours-days to live. And I spent the majority of yesterday and early parts of today informing the family. That's where me and my family is RN. So to everyone who has been praying for my family, it helps a LOT.
