Daffy Duck The Wizard

by
I continue to be amused and impressed with The Looney Tunes Show music videos. Here's one with Daffy Duck doing a total 1970s fantasy metal song. Think bands like Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Pentagram, etc. Someone on staff definitely knows their music.

Thanks for sharing! That's amazing! I love to see that 2D animation is still around.

Woah~! I never expected to see a Looney Tunes crossover with Heavy Metal! :DD

Thanks for sharing this, it's the best new animation I've seen since the 90s!  There should be more of this.  Heavy Metal is one of my favorite animated films.  Fully frame-by-frame animated characters would be insane to see made now, tho.  I don't think we can ever see industry-made fully frame-by-frame ever again, but this gives me hope that at least it can look cool.  There's parts they went with "cost saving," but they're trying!  <:3c

The "Heavy Metal" (the music genre this time) music is a little bit tryhard.  I like the reference to "Heavy Metal" by making it heavy metal music, but not so much that I wouldn't rather the music transitioned like how the Heavy Metal movie transitions genres and skits and animation teams.  For example the movie had Devo's "Through Being Cool."  Daffy is missing the "alien" elements, but the demons are cool.

Also, I love his duckfeetz in the armchair at the end, oh my goodness, they are so good, and so cute~! :B

It completely surprised me too. Like the other music videos in the series, it just kinda starts out of nowhere.

I agree, Heavy Metal is a fantastic movie! And I do like how diverse it was with its playlist, not an onslaught of metal but a nice sampling of early 80s music. Now, that Devo song isn't on the soundtrack but I remember it. Was it the song that the band was playing in the tavern scene from the last story with Taarna? I know there's a different Devo song because I've had the soundtrack since the mid 90s.

Yeah I'm pretty sure 2D animation is done. Even the Looney Tunes Show is from at least 10 years ago, if not more. I only recently found it on Netflix outside of the US. At least there's a wealth of obscure 2D animation from back in the days if you dig for it.

yupyup!  The tavern scene! :B

*reet*

It's roto-scoped, extremely violent, cool perspective camerawork, and that's the song the wacky lookin' band is playing~! xB
*oink*

I forget the other Devo song!  D:

Lately, I've been rewatchin' "The Longhouse Tales" and Bonkers!  Longhouse Tales got me into puppets.  I also recently watched Blazing Dragons and Redwall for inspiration while creating artz.  Spongebob S1-2 constantly. :B

They did a cover of 'Workin' In A Coalmine'. I think it played during the ending credits.

I'll certainly have to check out those titles you mentioned, other than Redwall. I have all three seasons. I should watch them again.

That's a good one.  I like DEVO! :B

If you CTRL+F my profile and do
"Favorite animated showz"
I got a list that I keep updated when I find a new one.  I've been focused these past 4 years or so very much on animation.
*oink*
Furry animation, actually xB

I obsessively watch "the best" over and over and over as I create art!

That's a nice list! I've seen probably most of what you have on there. Did you really just watch the 1987 Ducktails earlier this year? God I haven't seen that since it came out. I remember it being excellent.

*oink~!* :B
I have not yet *reet* watched all of the 1987 Ducktales, yet.
*oink*
I said in my previous comment wat I've been *REET* watchin' lately~! :B
Ducktales 1987 has some good ones, but, *oink* it was kinda hit/miss? *snort*
I think the first few I *oinkoinkoink* saw were good, but then they fell off hard enuff *REEEEE-* that I went back to my favorites!  I seem to recall the 3 nephews *oink* becoming cheaper and copy/paste (proto-tweening) *reet* after the first something episodes?
*oink*
I'm starting to keep records *snurf* about which exact episodes have the best animation.  *oink*
For example, "Air Pirates" episodes of Talespin, but not episodes with the Aggressive Female Antagonist or her obnoxious and inconsistent daughter.  *REET* The good artz :B

I do remember there was a five(?) episode story that introduced all the characters and they searched for the gold city in the Andes. Those episodes were particularly good. But it did turn into a standard afternoon cartoon series after that didn't it? I haven't seen any of this stuff since the late 80s, I'm trying to remember them the best I can.

Well you figure each frame is a full illustration done by the in-between artists. If it's done well you'll catch all kinds of details.

Bonkers with "Lucky" partner *REET* has "pause perfection" (*oink* paws perfection, too!)
*snort*
The OG *oink* Disney characters had simple *snort* designs that are ubiquitous in their recognizibility
*RE-REET*
And the OG Disney ones were not *oink* Forced

Overly detailed frames limits animation range *REET* it's an Eastern style to animation *oink*
Elegance *oink* is somewhere in the range of simplicity :B
"Elegant simplicity" is *snor-SNORT* missing from new animation.
Everything is so contrived *oink* and meta and narrative-driven
*RE-REEE*

TBH the music kinda reminds me of Dawn of Victory by Rhapsody

Do it man! Yeah I think Rhapsody took up that mantle back in the early 2000s and spawned the new generation of fantasy and power metal that's around now.
