... No, I am not open for commissions for the foreseeable future, not unless I somehow get kicked off SSI. I had been fighting to get on SSI for years, decades, even, and now that I'm on, I'm forced to stop doing commissions or even really selling stuff on a regular basis. The reason: SSI is supplemental security income, which is basically disability payments for as long as I'm deemed disabled. The moment I start working on and selling commissions, the less I'm able to get in SSI. I learned that the very hard way back in 2015, when I was fighting to get on SSI, and ended up getting a totally-unrelated windfall of cash from a former roommate's death (I had defended him from a home invasion and robbery, earlier that decade, and he put me on his life insurance as a beneficiary, as a result); not only did I lose that money, in an effort to "spend it down" so I wouldn't be forced against SSI, but I didn't get on SSI, anyway, and I lost my medicaid and food stamps, for that year, despite the spend-down I was talked into doing by the lawyers I had hired for the SSI case. Also, my roommate and I, as we are both on disability in different ways (he's getting DAC payments through his dad's Social Security), we're having to utilize housing assistance programs to pay for our rent; the more money we earn, the more the rent goes up on us that we have to pay. Learned that when I first started doing commissions, to help with expenses, and they caught on and forced us to pay back almost $1500 or so of back rent (which caused my roommate and I to have to sell all his video game collection, including a childhood N64 collection he had amassed).
So, in short, because I'm on disability and rental assistance, right now, I have to rely on my disability payments to make it through, each month, and I can't have that payment go down - or my rent going up - significantly, so I can't do any paid commissions, anymore. I wish I could; would probably motivate me to do more SFM stuff or the like. But I can't. So please, understand where this is coming from, and respect that I'm off the table for commissions. Thanks.
