Tough Months... (please read)

Hey everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve given a life update, so I wanted to take a moment to share how things have been going for me lately.

To be honest… it’s been tough.

Since March 2024, I’ve been doing freelance art full-time—just barely getting by, hanging on by the skin of my teeth. Many of you already know I take care of my mom alongside all my art responsibilities, and I’m incredibly thankful that she finally won her disability case. But unfortunately, our finances have only gotten tighter. Our food stamps were reduced as a result, and we couldn’t even afford food for Easter this year.

In a grimly ironic way, I guess I’ve become the textbook definition of a “starving artist.”

I won’t sugarcoat it: I’m feeling burnt out. I’m tired.

I manage both a Patreon and a SubscribeStar—both 18+ only due to the mature content I create—where I post all of my work early for folks supporting me at the $3 tier. On top of commissions, I’ve locked myself into a heavy posting schedule:

     - Every Monday: A new comic page

     - Every Wednesday: A WIP preview of the next page

     - Monthly: A supporter-voted character pinup, typically posted toward the end of each month

     - Commissions: Uploaded upon completion

     - All posts (except the WIPs) stay exclusive for a week before going public

     - My comic, Rapture in the Clouds, is currently 4 pages ahead on the paysites

It’s… a lot. I’m overwhelmed. I’ve backed myself into a corner trying to keep everything afloat.

To make matters worse, I don’t even have this month’s rent yet. I’m doing everything I can—applying to jobs, calling around—but I keep hitting dead ends.

Either I don’t hear back or they just don’t want me. It’s demoralizing, running in circles like this, and I’m just… exhausted.

Still, I’m going to keep applying. I need to find a job to supplement my freelance work. But when that happens, it’ll mean stepping back a bit from my online content. I hate that. It feels like undoing all the progress I’ve made growing my community and my paysites. But survival comes first. Keeping a roof over our heads, putting food on the table, and paying bills takes priority.

I’ll still be doing commissions, working on my comic, and streaming when I can—but please forgive me if things aren’t as consistent once I find other work.

If anyone wants to help out, I’m open for commissions. You can find my Terms of Service, prices, and queue list (Trello) at my Linktree:

I also have a $1 donation tier on both Patreon and SubscribeStar for anyone who wants to pitch in. Perks begin at $3.

I don’t like asking for handouts—I’d much rather work for what I earn. If you're interested, please feel free to reach out.

Dude, take care of yourself. If you burn yourself out you're going to do a lot more 'harm' to your brand/audience/etc than if you take time to take care of yourself and prioritize the important stuff.

Your real fans will wait for you.

Thank you so much for the understanding, I really appreciate it.

A lot of the pressure is definitely in my own head... I feel like every moment I’m not at my PC making art is potential income lost. I’m trying so hard to make this art gig work, even though it’s leaving me pretty drained and mentally exhausted.

That said, bills still gotta get paid. "Ain’t no rest for the wicked," as they say.
