Dealing with a family emergency

I wanted to wait until things settled down before I said anything, but my mom isn't doing too well.

She had been having a rough time taking care of herself, but it hit the point where she was getting serious lapses of memory, among other things. She was losing track of days and time, insisting the current day was different or being unable to tell AM from PM; she was missing all kinds of details and such (like not realizing my sister changed her earrings after several days), etc. It became very worrying.

My siblings and I at first thought she was falling into depression or malaise, but once that stuff started really happening, we took her to the hospital to get her looked at. This was two weeks ago (22 March).

Long story short - She's had multiple mini-strokes, and she's in kidney failure. She's 56.

The good news is, she's at a good hospital that's taking care of her; they've got her on dialysis and are monitoring her condition closely, and they're keeping in contact with my family to keep us updated.

The less good news is, in the two weeks since she's been there, her mental condition hasn't improved much at all. She has moments of lucidity, but they seem to be few and far between (about 30 minutes out of a day). Mostly she's either asleep or confused (as one could expect from a stroke victim).

So I've had that on my mind a lot. I'm trying not to worry because it's out of my hands now - She's being looked after and cared for, and at this point, there's really nothing for me to do about it; stressing isn't going to change the outcome. Whatever is going to happen will happen. I'm just trying not to think too much about - Been looking for distractions like chatting with friends and RPing here and there to take my mind off of it.

But yeah, that's why I've been particularly quiet recently, and will likely continue to be so for a while.

(Also, sidenote - I know it's a common thing in these kinds of journals, but as of right now, we are okay financially; she has good insurance and a decent amount saved in her HSA. If anything changes, I may make a post about it, but please do not feel donations are necessary at this time.)
