I've been waiting to buy this since late 2018 when I was forced to sell off pretty much everything I own to stave off homelessness; Internet libel from stalkers got me canned, and it took years to find anything with the current hellscape of AI auto-rejecting qualified candidates and fake jobs everywhere. Anyway, I refused to buy the same device again, so I've been waiting for the new one so that it feels like less of a waste!
Anyhoo, my thoughts on the unveil in no murrticular order:
- Mario Kart of the Wild looks like it'll be fun.
- I'm sure content creators will enjoy the Discord-style social features, but they're a hard "no" from me for privacy reasons.
- There's no way in hell the camera and mic will work as well as shown, lol.
- New Metroid looks good, but I've yet to play the Prime games.
- Gamecub being added to the online is neat, but I liked the Virtual Console model way more. Don't make me rent ROMs that have been on my hard drive for 20 years; VC offered legal perpetual ownership, but what's the point otherwise?
- The Kirby Air Ride sequel is gonna make a LOT of people happy. I never played the original tho.
- The new DK game could be good or bad, not sure yet. I hate that they reverted Rare's superior design for DK, it comes across as petty.
- Hyrule Warriors looks cool but I'm not into that series/genre.
- Very cute of Toby Fox to tie undertale news to this event!
- 2160p60 and 1080p120 options are very interesting! No way in fuck the thing will run above 1080p60 consistently with new games after the first year or two though with how cheap they are. But maybe this means smooth 1080p60 thoughout its lifespan this time?
- I'm sad that I didn't see a Paper Mario 64 remake! It's coming, right? Right??? D:
The bundle price in Canada is $700 CAD which is a bit holy fuck. I hope they paid for real specs this time!
