Artists character development as of late is horrifying...

"who am i to judge if character development is lately only judged by how big the melons and hips are, right?
Right?
Right."

That was a comment i made lately which brought a stone rollin.
Im serious to say that since at least the last 5-3 years, character development between artists feel like its getting worse and worse. insteed of great looking characters with detail, backstory and like, we getting oversized monster-mini-mashed and totally oversized characters which are created for one thing only: sexability.

No offense, I cant show a sample here - but at this point and time im sure people saw and know what im talking about.
A lot characters (again, "as of late") look like they could be created by the same person. NOT drawn maybe but created.
Big hips? Boobs as the size of the whole body? bimbofied? Maybe shortstacked?
Yea, as of late, a lot - and i mean a L O T - artists to draw their characters that way and im sure not just me could be counting up at least 2 hands full of artists which do that "as of late".

This is not wrong if you do it "for" said purpose... IF some of the characters WOULD actually be "USED" for that purpose as well because some of the charcters were actually "changed" into said style or are still kinda used to resamble something like a "character" which doesnt fit at all anymore into the story which they "were" in or are trying to be told "with" them.

If i use a shortstacked, oversized, oversexualised character for a story this character sure doesnt "suit" into the theme the story "wants" to be told, it feels WAY off.
"This" can be handled if done right but, again (and srsly, come on...), "Those creations" are not created for that but literally for fanservice only.

Another problem is if people not just do it with "their" creations but also imply it on other, copyrighted characters like Lola or Renamon.

I never get pictures out of my brain. i saw THINGS i didnt want to...

I would L O V E to show and name samples but not only do i hold myself back not to do so, im sure on the pages im posting this journal, it would count as name-shaming but than again, i would L O V E to see comments about that and what you think about this whole situation. I understand that i might be in a boat that my characters are as of late drawn with to much nudity for sure and even i said to myself, i wanna fix that but imagen i would also have changed their proportions to..."those" things...urg...
So yea, leave a comment and we can have a nice talk n shit about that.

You aren't wrong. Many of my favorite artists who got me interested in Furries initially have long long become horrible things to look at. Not only Sexibility, but also in details.  They over detail works, or start doing a different kind of face that is sooo ugly to look at, etc.  Just, evolving their style so it's no longer 'nice' or 'sweet'    I get it that I'm one to talk but then, I don't really draw anymore.

But yeah, you aren't alone in your observations.  It's sad.  I've seen it happen to so many artists...  one is a dear friend, I had commissioned but it took him literally years to do and sadly, by the time he did get to it the style of his had evolved so much, the faces were uuuuuugly.  But hey, I didn't 'comission him' truly, I was helping out a friend in a time of need. SIGH.

You also see that weird evolution of shapes in Second Life a lot too.  Someone posted a picture of the worst proportions imaginable and was selling it on the SL Marketplace as "Realistic"

Imagine being some one who doesn't like such styles that require a character to be so unhealthy. Some one who likes a slender body type, or even a nice athletic build that doesn't stack over sized or over defined muscles. Hell, I have had artists that I have seen draw slender characters, ignore my refs and written requests to refrain from giving 'adjustments' from my character's designs inflict the chunky hips and thighs to go with a set of watermelon breasts. My phoenix necromancer actually has a time line in her drawings where her chest and hips swell more and more with every new image. Mind you, not by request but rather opposite of my requests.

In the vein of the other characters like Lola and Renamon, they are the prime examples of why I don't believe the desire for this particular body type is genuine. Look at the characters they are thirsting for, only modifying them to fit the crowd and look like they enjoy the 'correct' body shape. Also, what is with this trend of putting a dick on every female character that I see lately and still labeling it as 'female' rather than herm?
