This is too reminiscent of the bans that drove furs to IB, years ago.... Now, furs who use a new tool - AI - are being driven out. Art, music, stories....

This is not the Inkbunny I came to, 14½ years ago. That Inkbunny specifically stated that the artwork that was made, regardless of how and what (as long as it wasn't hate & threats) would be encouraged, and that no artist should ever be harassed for the artwork they make.

Now, I only hope someday, someone would start an alternative to Inkbunny, one that lived up to the principles that Inkbunny once stood for.

No-one should be harassed because of the tools they choose to use for creativity. Ever.

I know. I remember it all too well. In fact, it's that particular memory that's the reason why I'm fighting for AI art! Literally, been there, done that!

This is the third decade of the 21st Century, for goodness sake!

A tool is a tool. What is made depends on the mind of the user of that tool....

People will say "Oh? You use Digital Midi Instruments? Well you're not a Real Musician. Oh? You use Samples? You use Programmed Drums? Well you're not a Real Musician." Do I care? Nope. Songs that use Samples can still be incredible. Busta Rhymes' "Fire It Up" wouldn't be anywhere NEAR as fun and meaningful to me WITHOUT the Knight Rider sample in the background of the Beat. It wouldn't even be the same song without it. But I do agree to a point that, Sampling and A.I. "style borrowing" might at some point need some "regulation" but I don't want it to be so heavy that it gets to be like that time Biz Markie got sued over an uncleared sample. (I think it was "Alone Again, Naturally" that got him in trouble).

And an album such as Beastie Boys "Paul's Boutique" simply could not be made in today's climate of lawsuit loving trigger happy copyright holders. That's precisely WHY folks like LapFox Trax would just release their stuff for free somewhere. Most of the two "Truxton" albums are just video game music mashed up with popular well-known songs. With how trigger happy copyright holders can be, there was no way at all Lapfox could ~sell~ that stuff commercially.

My view of A.I. Art Generation is pretty much a mirror of my views on Music Sampling Technology and Techniques. By all means, make some cool stuff with it! But also be mindful that if you try to make money off it -- someone is probably going to try to punish you for it.

Then of course there is an ethicality factor. Gregory "G.C." Coleman of the 1960s group "The Winstons" -- the creator of the famous "Amen Break" heard in countless "Drum and Bass" tracks and even Hip Hop songs, died homeless and penniless without ever having seen any royalties from the use of his song.

Imagine for a second that someone decided to use A.I. to generate a bunch of "Roni Collins" pics, in the style of Wolfblade's art, but without crediting him for it, or giving him a cut if those pics are "sold." I like Wolfblade and I think he's one of the greats, one of the O.G.'s -- I would hate for the guy to not get his fair share -- if people were to not only "borrow" his characters, but also his "style" too.

It's a tricky, fine line.
