A question of character rights

So this is a funny one that I have no idea how to handle.

If someone gives you the rights to a character then deletes the conversation, blocks you from contact and changes their entire online identity to leave that character behind as if they never existed, does the granting of ownership still stand? With a screenshot of the message taken from an offline version of the conversation?

Dubiously yes but realistically probably best to just outright retire em.

If it was just "Hey here ya go" and then vanish? Id say yeah thats a lil suspicious and tricky but yes the characters yours
If its one ya paid for and have proof of purchase then 100% is yours

yeah if you have the screenshot the character is all yours imo.
If the previous owner vanished to re-event themselves, yeah I don't think you'd need to credit them. [to keep their anonymity a secret to not expose the new form]
Sooo yea the character is yours. [imo]
