I've long been lamenting my flakiness when it comes to commissions.
I rarely open, and like something happens and I have to cancel commissions or everything altogether. I feel like I'm also putting some unnecessary pressure on commissioners to come up with an idea that that may or may not be accepted by me because of arbitrary and unexplained reasons. I have a lot of regulars who I have not been treating as well as I feel like I should, considering the patience and generosity I've been shown, just so I can stick to my arbitrary system of "slots" and "grace-periods" and whatnot.
So I'd like to change my approach to commissions. I'd like to do them more casually. Nice and loose. I want to do this for fun (the money is nice too though).
Going forward, my commissions will be remain semi-open. If you've commissioned me in the past and/or we've had some otherwise positive interactions in private, consider this an open invitation to send me an idea you'd like drawn, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I am going to be a bit more selective on what I take on, but I will at least communicate that, instead of my old system of ignoring everyone accept for the commissions I actually take on.
If you have not commissioned me before and are pretty sure you're not in this "cool person" club I'm talking about (yet), I'm not necessarily promising anything, but I may be willing to take on commissions from new people-- if I like the idea enough and have no reason to think you're icky or untrustworthy. I don't want to miss out on adding to the "cool people" club, but I hope you'll understand me being selective in this way.
I'm not abandoning the old system, I may occasionally open normal comms publicly if I don't have any current obligations or projects I want to work on.
Anyway, that's pretty much it.
Please don't interpret this post as me soliciting commissions. I'm fine. If I desperately need commissions, I'll just announce a normal opening.
If you really want something specific drawn and think I'm a good match for it, gimmie a poke and I'll consider it.
