Feeling better and worse, so here's some game rambling.
Been really struggling with money and it's been a bad drain on me, but switched meds and... Wow, hey, more clearheaded, a bit less impulsive, though still feeling.. well, extremely bitter.
So instead of DooM Scrolling, here's some random game rambles.
Played through BG 3, and a little sad I can't go through the good ending stuff for a bit, it's very good if you like D&D. Probably the closest to 'D&D tabletop on PC' in my opinion. Like seriously, just act 1 could be a game and it'd be great! Actually, there's kind of tooo much to do sometimes, and it can be a litle overwhelming. Also 'pushing off cliffs' way too strong =D
Poked at Pathfinder, Wrath of the Righteous, which seems interesting... But I actually am not certain how much I want 100+ hour games. One of my weird thoughts ha been getting some of that RPG vibe, in a 4-8 hour campaign that doesn't require months and months of play. But I may prod it some. It's no where as polished, but if you want crunchier combat than BG 3, it's got you covered.
Beat FF 1. Accidentally overleveled a bit with the 4X Exp option and getting lost a lot =D I actually can't say I recommend the first one except for curious historical reasons. But It's had one of the more fun lasting thoughts... What would I do with the basic systems?
Thought 1: no random encounters, all scripted fights. This gives the game a very good track of where everyone will be in power level and skips a lot of the tedium of whackin' mindflayers for a few hours.
Additionally: probably want a little more options, the front/back row was a great option. Having ways to push either side's rows is fun. Thief is just ninja waiting room, and apparently Monk oneshots the game =D so balance has... Issues. It's interesting how much ATB added to the game.
Thought 2: Multiple parties, in a tactical style game. Basically, Fire Emblem with adventuring parties.
This one intruigues me, to the point I may actually play around with it. Since you'd have good control over GAINS too, you can keep battles from being 'oops too underleveled' or 'oops walking through the game now because I got lost for 4 hours'
I had a third idea, but seems my notes didn't save right >< but the 2nd one was the one that had me intrigued. ATB fights with customizable FF4-6 style parties when units encounter is kind of cool, even has a 'oh no, flee!' option built in.
Idea 3: Heroes of Final and Fantasy... Wait?
Heroes of Might and Magic, but you have Final Fantasy style parties instead of armies. Split between exploration turns and fights play out FF style. Also interesting, and possibly a way to tie into the fire emblem style game play.
