SoFurry (2024 Edition) - Super buggy, uploading more than 5 pieces of art can take several days or even weeks, each upload ban lasts 12 hours. Bugs are very upload-focused as well, making it to where it's impossible to upload anything, bug can last several hours as well. Site's also not very active, which is... not surprising, it's new (technically) and in beta. Definitely not likely to use it until it's fully developed at this point.
Weasyl - It's... fine. Pretty dead, though. It's, more or less, a modern FA in function.
Pixiv - Gives me.... Pinterest vibes? It's pretty simple but it's recent ToS changes makes the site not great for NSFW artists. (Censoring law)
DeviantArt - OH BOY.. The memories. I remember when the site was "good", it was like Tumblr for artists and so much damn drama, holy fuck. My friend wasn't even a popular artist and she was targeted constantly like she was a corrupt Youtuber. Also, DeviantArt DID function identically to FA, but you just couldn't upload NSFW art.
Baraag - Not.. really an art site at all, it's apart of the Alternative-to-Twitter site called "Mastodon", it's very anti-user-friendly and I hated every second of it. Never could get used to everything and I don't know if I trust it at all.
Tumblr - Also not an art site but was actively used by artists. I remember loving this site back in it's golden era. It was the drugged up goblin of social media sites. Completely ungovernable and unmarketable, completely unhinged. Annnnnd still around.
Pillowfort - Kiiiiinda an art site...? It functions nearly identically to Tumblr and is basically a replacement for Tumblr artists who draw a fuck-ton of porn. It's.. pretty small and not AS dead as Weasyl, but close. It's okay, I do like it but I feel like it's not going to be around for long because PF constantly has to fundraise the site and it barely makes the mark usually.
I got banned from Pixiv for something I didn't do >:c. Pixiv's policies and security went to hell. (Sorry I'm not usually rude) and I just left this site. Too much spam, I complained several times about the security of that site but nothing. I haven't tried other sites so I know I'm on Deviantart and FurAffinity (Both only drawings for everyone, on Fur Affinity because of majority votes. I made the mistake of posting SFW drawings before NSFW) but it was too late, my SFW drawings were taken over by FurAffinity but I don't care, it's my favorite and I really enjoy doing it :D. My NSFW drawings were definitely taken over by this site (InkBunny) which at least for me had a happy ending. I heard an artist was on Baraang and yes he was a brother from twitter. I don't really plan on expanding my drawings to other sites for now. I'm already happy with those three (Deviantart and Fur Affinity for drawings of all ages and InkBunny for adults.)

I just kinda got... bored? of Pixiv. Didn't seem worth the time to try to use. Other sites are fine but are either too dead or have a major flaw that makes it unenjoyable to use. Been a fur for 20 years and I definitely miss the golden era of art sites and social media. I miss MySpace a ton, same for classic Tumblr and classic FA. FA USED to allow cub, but Dragoneer shilled to advertisers.

I have a baraag and Aethy, both are mastodon sites and they're kinda very different, but somehow similar experiences. Baraag is very like human sholi porn focused, it's hard to get attention unless you're making that kind of content. Aethy kinda feels like where a lot of tumblr rejects go once they've been called "problematic" by their original tumblr friend group. It's really interesting and they're generally a lot friendlier to furries and weird art stuff, some amazing artists on that site.
Art sites in general have just been getting worse and worse over the years. It's kinda sad to see so many people pushed to the brink or forced to constantly ban evade on the normie websites.

Yeahhh.. I will say that Pillowfort IS perfect for a Tumblr alternative, but barely anyone knows of it's existence because they don't advertise it and the fact the owners of the site have to constantly fundraise to keep the site up just tells me it's not going to be around for long.
And yeah, the internet, in general, has been getting a whole lot worse over the past 10 - 15 years. It's making me miss the 2000's so damn much because while the internet was a chaotic mess back then, at least it was a lot better.

The only thing that's kept me off pillowfort or cohost back when that was around was their banning of like cub/problematic art. I wouldn't wanna settle in one place just to get banned and stuff. Though, I doubt they really have the moderators to really be banning people.
