Vanilla the Rabbit, mother of Cream the Rabbit. This is something that we all know, but just how was Cream conceived? Official Sonic media has never mentioned just who Cream's father is or what Vanilla's relationship status was at the time of her birth. Because of this, writers and artists usually 'fill in the blank' when it comes to this topic. Now, anyone who knows me knows that Tails' X Vanilla is my favorite Sonic ship, but whenever it comes to writing a pairing between the two of them, mentioning how Cream was convinced is something I usually have to think about. It is something that will help drive the plot forward after all.
Was Vanilla married to Cream's father before being widowed due to some tragic fate? Was Cream's father someone she divorced or perhaps he divorced her? Was Vanilla never married and Cream was the result of some 'fling' she had in her younger days? Did Cream's dad 'go to the store to get some milk' and never return? What is your favorite scenario for Cream's conception? There are a few that come to my mind.
Scenario 1: Widowed - Now, this is the one that I usually gravitate towards the most. Vanilla was married at one point, they had Cream together, then he died. How he died can change between story, but the fact is that Vanilla is now a widow. After such a traumatic event, she'd be rather reluctant to start a new relationship, instead dedicating all of her time to raising her daughter alone. Though, now that Cream's older, she might be ready to find someone again.
Scenario 2: Divorced - Vanilla was married at one point, but later got into a divorce and received sole custody of Cream. Did she divorce him or did he divorce her? Maybe there was no official divorce and he simply left one day. This might have given her some trust issues, resulting in her not dating after such a heartbreak. Though, maybe someone is there to rekindle the flame in her heart someday.
Scenario 3: Never Married - Definitely a common scenario and one of my favorites. Vanilla had Cream out of wedlock. Was this a boyfriend perhaps that left her the moment he found out she was pregnant? Maybe some random 'fling' she had in her younger days resulted in her falling pregnant. There's even the darker scenario of her getting r****... but that scenario would be too dark for someone like myself to write to be honest with you. Either way, she was never married, but now she's finally ready to settle down with someone.
Scenario 4: Surrogacy/Adoption - Now technically, this one could've been grouped in with 'Never Married', but I decided to separate it on the grounds that I don't like it that much. Either she had a sperm donation that resulted in her falling pregnant with Cream, or she simply never gave birth to her in the first place and simply adopted her. I really don't care much for either of these circumstances as both kinda ruin the potential of her searching for someone else in a story (Plus, Cream looks just like her, so why would she be adopted?).
Scenario 5: Virgin Birth - One of the more out there scenarios, but one I honestly kinda like. Cream was a magical virgin birth that resulted in the power of the Master Emerald or something, IDK. A cool concept, but not one I see myself ever doing. At least not in a smut story anyway... It seems like it could make an interesting story though.
So, those are just a few scenarios that come to mind. What is your favorite Maternity Scenario for Vanilla the Rabbit though?
My favorite one is widowed as it comes from one of my many mobian porn-AU headcanons were a event happened and killed 99.9% of the mobian male population (and the female mobian population increases an infinite number of times and keeps growing with the help of technology) with only a few (2 or 3) males remaining and these males are gonna be Hooking up with harem amounts of ladies especially needy milfs with vanilla fitting in that category and I think that will make her really happy lol.

I wouldn't say "favorite", but most likely would definitely be widowed.Creatives love tragic origins; they get off on that shit. And most of them wouldn't vilify the other party unless it's to actually make them a villain that would play a significant part in an upcoming plot. It's easier—and scores more 'Oscar' points—if the missing party is just blamelessly not there. Death took them, and death isn't a bad guy, so neither is its victims. Yay!
It's old and it's clichéd, but it's like that because it always works.
