A tragic plane crash occurred in South Korea hours ago.

On December 29, around 9 a.m., a Jeju Air flight departing from Thailand attempted to land at Muan International Airport in South Korea. Due to an unexplained issue, the landing gear failed to deploy, forcing the aircraft to attempt a belly landing.
The plane veered off the runway, crashed into a wall, and exploded.

The aircraft had a total of 181 people on board, including the crew. Among the 175 passengers, two were Thai nationals, while the rest were South Korean.

Two crew members survived the crash, but all other passengers and crew members were confirmed dead.
(The numbers may change as the search is still ongoing.)

Fire authorities estimate all but two survivors have likely died and have shifted from rescue to recovery operations.

Another tragedy has struck South Korea, which is already facing political and currency issues.

My condolences go out to the victims of the accident...

it is just so sad and terrible -_-
i wonder why someone would build a wall (heavy and stable) at the end of a runway.

I read that the wall had antennas on it for landing guidance (ILS glideslope antennas). They need to be raised above the level of the runway, but at other airports, the antennas raised by putting them on poles that are designed to easily break if they're hit so as to minimize the damage to an airplane that hits them. I think putting a solid berm at the end of the runway is not allowed in many countries.
