Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to everyone!
(Or Christmas Eve if you're not from around here, we Finns are a bit weird so we do most of the celebrations on Christmas Eve rather than Christmas day)

I had no idea you were Finnish! I know nothing about Finnish Christmas traditions, so I guess I'd ask... what do you usually do in your celebrations? Here in NZ we would typically have a Christmas lunch featuring a roast chicken, but often a barbecue is had too (sometimes at the beach, since it's summer). If a tree is present, and gifts are under it, gifts are opened on Christmas morning.

I've not done anything to celebrate Christmas in many years, since I'm usually alone for it, or working, so I'm rusty in my knowledge of how it's celebrated here. And it's from a non-religious viewpoint.

Fairly typical celebrations I'd say. A Christmas get-together on Christmas eve is very usual, with a big Christmas dinner (usually featuring a ham a lot of different types of casseroles, and rice porridge) and gift giving. Families usually also visit graves of family and friend, leaving candles there, on Christmas eve. Christmas church is on Christmas day on the other hand, with a mass on the night before
