100 books sold, Big Thank You!

by
It has been actually a month that I crossed the line... But I'm bad at keeping track x3

Just wanted to say a big thank you for everyone that has been interested in my project! It can seem to not be much, but many writers would love to get to this amount. It is not easy for a creator like me to sidetrack to a different path, and I've been glad to receive good comments and good results. Especially when you are known for your NSFW fetishy stuff and suddenly release a SFW book x3
Plus the feedbacks have been excellent! I've yet to find someone who didn't like it :P Had a blast having a stand at the last EF where I could sell it.
All in all very motivating and making me decide to continue! Just starting to write the second book ^v^ Which will be a bit different, as we will keep the universe but have a different cast of characters! Some of them being some well known characters of mine >:3

Again, thank you all so much!

And for those who are interested and yet haven't gotten to read it (for Christmas maybe? Seems like the right occasion!):

Very cool and a very respectable milestone! As a writer myself (who's stuff never went anywhere), I know how hard it can be just to get people inspired to read your stuff so that's certainly something to be proud of!

Thanks!
Yes, it's hard for writers to get noticed, so about that, I'm glad to have a community around which enabled me to reach people.
Though, as said, I'm happy people who read it enjoyed it and are asking for more!

I just found out you write. Is a comic?

Is this the only thing you've done? Or first? Why make it "SFW" instead of aiming for the erotic genre? There are several serious books that are also erotic without losing quality or fame (Anne Rice, for example. Also Sherrylin Kenyon, Rebecca Yarros, Holly Black), even sharing genre with fantasy; and also erotic comics (like the Swing comic, which although it focuses on a married couple that begins to experiment with open relationships, couple swapping, and there is a lot of nudity and sex... it is much more than just porn). I mean, the erotic genre is worthy in itself and you can launch yourself into the "general open world" with it.

Were you hoping to get a wider audience?

Erotic writing doesn't work in the stories I'm writing. I make epic fantasy books, which can be read by a younger audience as well.
Also I find that including NSFW parts in a SFW story only works if the NSFW parts make the story progress... which often isn't the case.
Though, I've made a NSFW comic, which can be read on the side of the said book! Can consider this being "Lewed Extended Universe" x3

Just... keep in mind that there are the Heavy Metal movies (which some say inspired The Fifth Element), Felidae, Fritz the Cat...
I mean... you like erotic, right? Isn't it just part of you and what you are into? You know... be authentic, true to yourself and what you like, without limiting yourself... I'm sure you are able to describe very good scenes. But of course, if you're experimenting how well you do in another field, where people of other audiences can appear... although there are already many epic fantasy books suitable for all audiences, right?

Even if it has no use for the plot, a romance and some scene/moment can add a spicy touch that makes the journey of those characters more interesting (just look at Mass Effect, Baldur's Gate 3, Dragon Age Origins...); and I remember an Argentine book (name: Aventuras y Desventuras de Casiperro del Hambre, 1995) classified as for very young audience (I would say with a rather humorous tone, much less serious than the Warrior Cats books, with a narrative like Spirit Stallion of the Cimarron in which he narrates/told his own story) that had as protagonists stray/alley dogs in a city and it tells at one point in the book how the main character dog finds a female dog in heat and has casual intercourse with her (I remember how it began by describing from the dog's head how he interpreted "the sweet and attractive perfume emanating from the female dog"). When I read those couple of pages when I was a teenager (14/15 years old), in my high school library, I was very surprised and I never forgot that book, it was very fun and interesting (the movie Felidae also has a moment of casual intercourse of the main character with an extra character female cat that barely appears and the intercourse scene has no relevance whatsoever... other than maybe being part of a cat's life). So certain erotic touches can be included, I suppose that if you want to keep it for the widest possible audience you would have to look at the criteria... but I suppose it would be enough to not directly describe those organs and/or be "a bit poetic/allegorical" with the descriptions.

There is also a collection of books first published in the 1950s in Spain aimed at school children in which the main character was an animal of a certain species to show the typical lifestyle of that animal (there are 13 books, starring an elephant, buffalo, wolf, lion, mandrill, otter, penguin...). These books always began with the protagonist in a litter with his siblings, and when he became an adult he would find a mate and have his own puppies, although they did not go into as much detail as Casiperro's.

Oh I don't mean erotic themes are bad, not at all!
Just that they wouldn't work in the stories I'm writing, and wouldn't go well with the tone. I don't feel confident about my ability to write erotic stuff either! I've written yiffs myself, but they were always in line with my favorite themes, aka heavily non-con xP
