Another chaos in South Korea.

Following the martial law incident, which was declared on December 3rd and ended just six hours later, many citizens and opposition party lawmakers held rallies calling for the President's impeachment.

Today, December 7th, an impeachment vote for the President was held. Lawmakers from both the ruling and opposition parties gathered at the National Assembly to cast their votes.

Over one million citizens gathered outside the National Assembly to hold an impeachment rally, not only in Seoul but across the entire country.

However, ruling party lawmakers boycotted the vote, with 105 out of 108 members absent. For the impeachment motion to pass, more than 200 votes of approval from both ruling and opposition lawmakers were required. However, due to the absence of most ruling party members, the vote secured only 195 votes in favor, rendering the impeachment invalid.
(It happened 9:22 PM KST)

As a result, all citizens are outraged, and I am no exception. However, this is not the end. This impeachment vote was only the first, and a second vote will be held soon. Our rallies and struggle will not stop. As a citizen of South Korea, I, too, will fight for my country.

The one thing I did not see much in the western news:
What was(/is) the people's opinion on that household-finances bill which apparently/supposedly caused all this?
Was it a bill that's technically good/social for the people but the masses fear overspending (like the rightwing in America with Democrat's projects), or was it less social than past bills and involve reduction of government support?

I know very little about the situation outside of the fact its a touch more nuanced then most sources claimed it to be.
