Critical Thinking has died.
Nobody needs to think, plenty of talking heads to give you today's opinions. Pick the ones that align with your mood and run with it.

I think freethinking as most see it is at a crossroads.
The biggest "problem" with freethinkers is the same problem athiests have: disparate ideas of what that means.
Unlike religion or conformist thinking, we lack the cohesion, the social tribal thinking that unifies them. It's probably why freethinkers are vanishingly rare. We don't have a central idea of what "free thinking" is. This is expected in a way, because a central, unified concept would kind of be against the idea of free thinking anyway; )
But I think that why we will never see free thinking or rational skepticism being the majority. It takes too much work to step outside the familiar and force yourself to take a broader view, and human nature just isn't like that as a whole.
