TRUMP IS A FASCIST!

...oh wait, I'm a student of history and actually know what the hell Fascism, Communism, Capitalism and so on are. I also love to unravel conspiracy theories which rely on making vague and sweeping comparisons as foundations for making specific horseshit accusations.

When someone tells me Trump is a Fascist, and then explains that he is very charismatic (like Hitler!) and his followers are very loyal (like Nazis!), and... er... border control is totally racist (like Nazi Germany!) (and also every other country in Europe at the time) (shut up we're on a roll here!)...

You see where this is going.

Literally every Republican President since and including Reagan has been called a Nazi, including the former Presidents currently embraced by the Democratic Party for their opposition to Trump. And you have Biden smilingly assuring us that there will be a peaceful transfer of power, so OBVIOUSLY Biden must be pro-Fascism, apparently. Either that, or he doesn't believe it himself despite using the "Nazis are very fine people" hoax repeatedly in his campaign speeches.

So, what IS a Fascist?

Most likely, the sort of person who thinks the First Amendment is an impediment to "combating disinformation" (John Kerry, former Democratic Presidential Candidate and current DNC superdelegate who helped install Kamala Harris despite her winning not a single vote in the "Democratic" Presidential Primary). It's DEFINITELY the sort of person who suggests that their political opposition needs to be rounded up and "re-educated" - a growing popular opinion amongst the sorts of folks in left-wing circles who believe freedom of speech should also be regulated by the government on social media. All in the name of fighting "disinformation", naturally.

Fascism doesn't even require racial hatred, although Hitler's specific brand did, since the "National" part was about treating every nation as its own race. To the Nazis, each "white nation" was its own race - the Germans, the English, the French, et cetera, and they believed in a form of Darwinism which applied specifically to the survival of nation-states. Italian Fascism, by contrast, included a third of Italian Jews as members of Mussolini's party, and Mussolini resultingly resisted Hitler's demands regarding racial segregation and elimination because it had the effect of setting his own political backers against him. This was a significant reason for how Italy split, socially, politically and even militarily, after the fall of Rome. If you think "fascism is when you don't like everyone with a different skin color", you're letting a lot of Nazis off the hook while putting a lot of people who fought them on it in their place.

Trying to equate securing the US border with "racism", especially to National Socialist levels, makes a Nazi regime of the entire anti-Nazi alliance of World War Two.

Because of these self-evident realities, we do NOT hear a clear argument about Trump being Fascist from the Left - we hear that he "secretly" believes things, or that things he has said in public "really" mean something more sinister. We are told of tangential things which are then connected to one another in the same exact manner as a Pepe Silvia meme, then told it's proof-positive of the MENACE this man is supposed to be.

If I bought into even half of what I get told about Trump, I'd have to reconsider the arguments made by Moon Landing Deniers and 9/11 Truthers because the same disconnected illogical nonsense is on display. And when I push back on it, I get the same response I do from UFO Nuts and Crop Circle Enthusiasts: repeated and heated demands for making the leaps of faith necessary to arrive at their own conclusions, and if I don't, [insert gratuitous insults here].

Sorry. I don't buy it.

Let me know when Trump starts talking about annexing other nations, or that a given race must be eradicated to save the world, or that nothing should be outside the State, all should be within the State, and nothing should be against the State - because THAT is Fascism... and the only people I hear pitching anything close to the latter bits are Democrats talking about "disinformation control".

Thanks. It really does bug me though how many people just trust blindly in whatever their preferred outlet is - doesn't matter if it's Fox, CNN, MSNBC or Tim Pool. Everyone's trying to make a buck and the only REAL rule is "can we be sued for saying this?".

When you realize that's the real redline for journalism, you start wanting to doublecheck folks' claims...

Well put. I don't have anything to put into the matter, but...your reasoning is sound, and has been since I've been around. My family is on the nutty side of things, where as I'm more or less...liberal on things. It lets me look at both sides, and dear God is one side a bit crazier than the other.

Don't get me wrong. Both have faults. Just the democratic side has been a bit wonky, and it's gotten worse for awhile.

As things go, I'm in the camp of 'Watch and Wait'. If he actually does start doing things like you mention, then sure, that's a problem. Otherwise...I'd like to see him fix the V.A. My grandfather died due to their negligence, and they got off scott-free to the point my grandmother almost didn't get any support.

You have my sympathy. My own VA hospital is the one in Phoenix - the same one which infamously killed 40 veterans by putting them on illegal waitlists.

McCain went in and knocked heads around, people were fired and replaced with... bureaucrats who refused to identify the "top ten things to fix" even a year afterwards. And veterans are back on waitlists. I know because I routinely get last-minute cancellations to appointments which take months to set up and then are scheduled for months after that, only to simultaneously get requests to reschedule. It takes me six months to see my primary care physician.

So, even though I've been told not to "burden" the emergency room with relatively minor issues, that is where I go for anything significant, because it is the only place I CAN go for actual care.

Well, Democrats are in the pockets of many of the same businesses as Republicans like the military-industrial complex (and some different, of course, like Big Abortion and Big Education), and their biggest donors are big businessmen as well like George Soros and the guy who founded Facebook, so I think "fascist two-party state" best describes America now.

I disagree with the "fascist" term, because I have long studied what Fascism, Communism, etc actually are. The "Cry Wolf Effect" comes into play.

You are correct that the Democrat Establishment is in bed with a lot of corporations the same as the Republican Establishment is, and this is one reason why I oppose both Establishments in favor of reforming forces - unfortunately the Democrats have succeeded in quashing all attempts at internal reform while the Republicans WERE successful until Trump cracked the wall. Ergo, I support Trump as a bulldozer effecting reform in the Republican Party, and NOW he has a very strong set of personal reasons to sweep out the Department of Justice and begin headhunting the corrupt criminals in government. If a wildfire is all I can get to save the forest with, that is what I will accept.

Regarding Fascism, specifically, government does not serve corporations - that is oligarchy. Instead, under Fascism, corporations serve the State, and are subject to nationalization when they do not comply with government directives on everything from hiring to production quotas. Under Nazi Germany, the only major industrialists who were initially on board with Fascism ended up in death camps; Italy's Fascism was much closer to their theoretical ideal of wilful mutual cooperation - and it still didn't work very well.

Personally, I would like to see the abolition of political parties in general as being anathema to democratic process: they are less about people mutually working together for a set of ideals and more a self-interested bureaucracy which - as we saw with Harris' installation as candidate over Biden, who was actually elected by Democrat voters to represent them - will happily destroy a democratic process in the name of the Party Elite.

Same shit, different election.  Been happening for at least 24 years.  They were calling Dubya "Hitler" when he first got in.

Also, since I can't fav journals, this is getting bookmarked.

Trump is a fascist because he constructed a supreme court to approve for him to be able to commit crimes while being a president without being prosecuted for it. No other president has ever done that in the history of America.

Also, we could get into Project 2025 where he thinks the entire government should answer to the president and everyone in the federal government must serve him and no other. He wants it so our military answers only to him and not the constitution.

So yes. He's a fascist.

Literally none of that happened.

Right off the bat, you're talking to someone who actually READ the "President can now assassinate anyone using Seal Team Six" nonsense from Sotomayor - which was the DISSENT. And the rest of the Court explained why it was a stupid take having nothing to do with the actual decision.

But Joe Biden repeated it, so therefore Loyal Democrats also repeated it, because to deny the Newspeak was to deny the Party.

Which if you've bothered to actually read Nineteen Eighty-Four... THAT is Fascism. And you're soaking in it.

Americans never been faced to what fascism is in their history, and just for that they should stop using the word nazi/fascist/hitler as an argument. Ask any pole, french, european in general, i mean people who saw it, ask em while they are alive, i triple dare them to say "but trump is literally hitler!"

ironically the left uses fascist tactics to cut their oponents by taking keys in power. judges., media, communications, education.

still happy for you guys to have reelected the Donald, let's hope this will take the world in another direction.
