Apparently a server I'm in broke a rule and I'm suspended because of it. I haven't visited that server in ages. Am I going to have scrutinize my server list?

XMPP is good too, but it's fragmented by design, and a bit dated. No universal inline image support and I think most services don't have it, encryption is also optional and often not supported. On the other hand, discord and matrix seem to essentially be browser-based at their core, which kind of opens up a lot of problems with potential attack surface and bug wrangling... Never mind performance, I have yet to find a matrix client that even works consistently without being based in a browser. They're all bugged or broken in some way.
I was thinking of spinning up an XMPP instance though, since I left discord behind a while back, for crashing other programs frequently.
