The mass resignations come after Luffy was asked to leave, and it seems like they've taken many of their puritan puppets with them. Squiggles is now in the unenviable position of being the admin I think with maybe Yak repping old-guard? Hard to know.
I'd reach out to my contacts but NDA's and drama are afoot, if I get any info that isn't snarky or imprecise, it'd be painful to pull anyway. Instead you can read about this on the Bluesky Thread by Echoen, and based on the accuracy of several findings lining up with observations of mine, I have no reason to really doubt the broad strokes as correct. Grain of salt, important if true.
One thing that has come out of the horse's mouth is that FA was in fact dependent upon third party advertisers, like I had said it was in Summer of 2023. I even went back on that due to lack of insider information. That's documented here if you want to see it on the FA Bluesky directly. Seemingly, Bluesky is the place to be for the furry community and FA's now all but inevitable likelihood of closure is accelerating old fucks like me into joining on.
I'll be honest with you: it looks like Furaffinity is about to go under and do so to the tune of about $300k being extracted in a fucking rug pull. Some folks have previously estimated the start of next year, and this was based on the vague assumption that if FA was in serious debt it'd probably be fire-sale'd within about 90 to 180 days. We're closing in on 90 days, which will be about November 4th. Oh btw if you're in the U.S. don't forget to vote by November 5th.
180 days in this instance means about February 2nd, assuming 180 days since Dragoneer's passing. This site may go down unexpectedly and never return as a result. If you're not following Furaffinity's Discord, Bluesky, or Twitter accounts, you might miss it. I'll be mirroring this post on my Inkbunny, Weasyl, Sofurry, and Itaku accounts. YW, a lot of folks haven't taken these developments very seriously, so it's hard to keep up with. The recent staff purge news especially surprised me, and with the policy reversal that hit later on the 30th, it really seems like Squiggles recognized at least part of the issue. Yet to be seen if they can unfuck the rest of the organization.
