If you want a commission, please have your idea ready with refs if possible! Artist freedom kind of stresses me out, and I would rather have instructions of what the client wants, rather than try to guess myself.
I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who isn't too much of a fan of artistic freedom. I've been told I'm too stiff about it sometimes. I'm not against the idea if I'm working with someone in creating something together, but if I'm making artwork you want specifically, I will not like hearing the words "I'll leave it up to you" or "I'm okay with whatever you draw, as long as [insert subject here] is in it."
